ianman Posted September 1, 2010 Share #381 Posted September 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Spyker? yeah, one of the very early prototypes :-) ok, here's a clue for you... the picture was taken in front of a building at rue du labrador 26 in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium. Find out what the building is and that may help you find out what this car is. huh, I thought this would be way easier than the Unipower !

elansprint72 Posted September 9, 2010 Author Share #392 Posted September 9, 2010 Larry, thanks for breaking the ice... here is a non-Leica shot, Mods shoot me down...... Can't to this day believe how much this car is worth and how big was the hammer. Presumably the owner was very anxious to display the size of his assets. Welcome, dear visitor! kkochheiser Posted September 10, 2010 Share #394 Posted September 10, 2010 Ecurie Ecosse, could be many things but first guess would be a Lister Jaguar. Kent
kkochheiser Posted September 10, 2010 Share #395 Posted September 10, 2010 On closer examination it looks more like a D-Type. What a big hit! I guess anything that was made can be made again but you'd have to be pretty rich to fix that Kent

They were battering the rear end with a 4 pound lump hammer in order to get it ready to race after a slide into the Armco. Actually I would not be at all surprised if they managed to save this panel, it's amazing what can be done to ally on an English Wheel. Over to you. steed Posted September 13, 2010 Share #400 Posted September 13, 2010 What a fantastic memento. I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck Daigh at an event a couple of years ago, and took a picture of him in front of the Scarab that he drove. A year later, I met him again and got his autograph on the photo I had taken. He was extremely modest and gracious with his time. I was planning on visiting him down in Long Beach where he was living, but he died before I got around to him. Ironically, I met the great racing photographer Bernard Cahier (a Leica user) at the same event where I met Mr. Daigh. Mr. Cahier and I made a very nice connection, but he too died before I could arrange a visit. A great world is fading, and I think it is fantastic to keep it alive as much as possible. Thanks for your part. Please post some more pictures of this nature. Regards John W
