piblondin Posted March 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) H everyone, I'm looking for a small case that will snugly fit my M8 with the very small Summicron 40mm lens attached to it. I don't need the case to fit anything else except, perhaps, a Ziploc bag to protect in the rain. I'm going to be traveling and would like to be able to put the camera inside my larger backpack with my other stuff. However, I want it to be protected from the other contents and from when I put the backpack on the ground. If the case also has an attachment for a shoulder strap, that's a plus too. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Advertisement Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Hi piblondin, Take a look here Small padded case for M8 w/ no extra lenses?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
chrysostomos Posted March 31, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 31, 2010 Salve! I use as small padded case for my M8 with a Summicron 50mm a LowePro Lens Case. Didn't found the exact name again. Fits perfect and is perfect for carrying on my backpack etc. Marc
wda Posted March 31, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 31, 2010 Have you considered the Leica Neoprene case? The short-nose version should meet your need for reasonable protection of the camera. It is the least expensive case for Leica.
shootinglulu Posted March 31, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 31, 2010 Hi. I'm looking for the same thing for use in a hip bag for cycling. Some one recommended a Domke small pouch but i haven't looked into sizes yet.

piblondin Posted April 1, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted April 1, 2010 I'm looking for something more like a small Lowepro case, but it's hard to tell which one would fit properly when I can only see them online. However, I'm also considering the neoprene case, but it doesn't seem like it would offer much protection.
jaapv Posted April 1, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 1, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Actually, it does offer quite good protection for bumps etc. but it is worse than useless in the rain. It acts like a sponge, soaking the camera. Reason I use the everready case in the wet, but it needs an extra baseplate to get the camera in and out easily and is quite a handful when shooting. SJP Posted April 1, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 1, 2010 Every time I see this thread I get the association "small padded cell" - I wonder why:D
A. Cheng Posted April 2, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 2, 2010 H everyone, I'm looking for a small case that will snugly fit my M8 with the very small Summicron 40mm lens attached to it. Thanks! A piece of Roadwired wrap 16" x 16" would be a great alternative to small padded case. Search Amazon.
wda Posted April 2, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 2, 2010 I googled and found Calumet site which lists several variants. Quite a good alternative. OP don't discount the neoprene case entirely. It is not an equivalent to a fitted leather case, nor is it so expensive. I use mine mainly when bundled in a non-photo bag for non-photo outings. It does stop scuffing and scratching but, like most bags, they are not designed to withstand too many 'drop' tests!
!Nomad64 Posted April 2, 2010 Share #11 Posted April 2, 2010 Mine's pretty similar to this one (maybe an older model): Case Logic Ultra Compact Camera Case > Photo and Video > Case Logic it was perfect with the collapsed Heliar 50/3.5, fits also the Planar 50/2 with no shade. If your 'cron is shorter than the Planar chances are that you can fit it with the shade on. Cheers, Bruno
lct Posted April 2, 2010 Share #12 Posted April 2, 2010 Ever heard of Kando camera cases?
Racefan Posted April 2, 2010 Share #13 Posted April 2, 2010 Actually, it does offer quite good protection for bumps etc. but it is worse than useless in the rain. It acts like a sponge, soaking the camera. Bummer - thanks for the heads-up on the Leica neoprene case in the wet. I bought one just to keep in my pocket for situations when I want to be out with just the camera and no bag assuming it would provide wet protection, but haven't actually been in the wet with it. piblondin Posted April 2, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions. Nomad, that Case Logic one is probably the closest to what I'm looking for.
