daveleo Posted February 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 27, 2010 his face looks like a map of the terrain while his eyes show his heart looking outward. extremely nice (and "earthy") portrait.
AlbertoDeRoma Posted February 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great portrait with a lot of interesting details that keep you looking at it (e.g. the busted seams on the jacket's shoulder, the man's beard, ...) Excellent use of DOF as well and - as Azzo already mentioned - great use of strong contrast. Alberto

roguewave Posted February 27, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 27, 2010 Jeff, this takes me back to Cuba. I can close my eyes and see this face in the dim light of the entrance to a thousand local dance halls from La Habana to Santiango de Cuba. Just wonderful work. Big smile on my face. jplomley Posted February 27, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted February 27, 2010 Gentlemen, I truly appreciate the time you have taken to leave your comments. Ben, putting a smile on your face makes my day as I realize how uber-critical you are (which is a good thing).

jplomley Posted February 28, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted February 28, 2010 My friends, many thanks for all your encouragement. @ Wilfredo, my poor spanish kept me from engaging this individual to the level I would have wished. I did not fully comprehend what he was telling me, but it was obvious that he was pleased to have someone listen to him. What was unexpected is that he never asked for a handout, even though I was quite prepared to help him given his graciousness.
