earleygallery Posted February 6, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 6, 2010 Good grief, it works!! Not meaning to be rude, but what exactly is the photo meant to demonstrate, apart from the above?
lct Posted February 6, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 6, 2010 ...what exactly is the photo meant to demonstrate... That straight conversion from a mysterious raw converter can be rather soft perhaps? Much better results can be achieved with default settings of Capture One imho.

Guest Bernd Banken Posted February 7, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 7, 2010 Ok, guys it's sunday... Harry, to display a photograph on screen with its 72ppi needs some sharpening after you rezised the pic for the web. Otherwise the pic looks a bit soft which would be unfair to judge the capabilities of the X1. Could you please explain whether you did this or something similar or not? Thanks Bernd
wda Posted February 7, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 7, 2010 Harry, Jpegs for the web provide a testing challenge for assessing quality. I spent just two minutes in Photoshop adjusting white balance and tweaking curves and adding mild Smart Sharpening. Bearing in mind that my changes were made to an already processed small Jpeg file; imagine my surprise when I found that I could almost read the bar-code on that white label. The general image quality was very good with plenty of bite and colour. Yet when I uploaded my version, the quality reverted to a rather mushy rendering apparent in your posting. So I removed it. Perhaps the file was too small. If the original file was raw, why not try again and post a slightly bigger image. It just might have the quality than you expected. There is certainly plenty of Leica quality in your image.

jsrockit Posted February 7, 2010 Share #14 Posted February 7, 2010 I agree I wonder if the guy has used an X1 or is he trying to big up his own GRD3 I wonder Well, I guess he may have meant with regards to street photo... where the GRD3 has snap focus and stuff to make it quicker. However, with regards to quality, no dice.
