AlbertoDeRoma Posted February 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here are 4 pics from my first street outing with my new (to me) M8u and 28mm 'cron. All photos were taken the same day in San Francisco. I like juxtapositions, and in this series I tried to capture and contrast, youth and age. Not just the physical changes, but also changes in attitude, spirit, energy, ... I know that each photo is in a slightly different style (I am still learning and experimenting) but I had so much fun that I can't wait for next week-end. Thank you for looking. Comments and criticism are always welcomed. Alberto Young Man / Old Man Young Woman / Old Woman

azzo Posted February 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2010 Nice work Alberto. I find the 2nd one the strongest and my favourite.
AlbertoDeRoma Posted February 2, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 2, 2010 Nice work Alberto. I find the 2nd one the strongest and my favourite. Thanks Ivan. Somehow, I knew you'd like the second one the most. I do too. I must confess that I was thinking about you (well, about your photos and your style to be precise) while I was shooting and post-processing. Not that I want to, or could if I would, copy you or your style, but you are definitely a major inspiration. Thank you for your continuous encouragement of beginners like me and for your regular contributions to this forum. Alberto (slowly but surely becoming addicted to street photography)

stuny Posted February 2, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 2, 2010 Alberto - A terrific set, individually and as a series. BTW: 2 dirt spots on the sensor show up in the upper right sky of #1.
vdb Posted February 2, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 2, 2010 Very nice series. I must agree with #2...emotionally the most powerful. Congrats on your new kit.
thompsonkirk Posted February 2, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Instead of picking a particular favorite, I'd say this is the beginning of a fine series of street photography. Wonderful results for a very first outing. Keep it up & stick with the theme? Over time, some will move to the bottom of the stack & others will be 'keepers' for a show or book. melissah Posted February 2, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 2, 2010 grt first outing for sure. i like the idea, the content. the shots are coming up too dark and maybe over processed. but that could be my personal preference. i suggest if can do it that perhaps you (in photoshop) change the canvas size to accomadate the 2 photos and present as a diptich. if presented that way i think it will hold together better. happy shooting youre off to a great start. best, melissa
Spo Posted February 2, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 2, 2010 I like Nos 1 & 2 better, particularly No 2. Yes, the dirt on the sensor, I'd settle for two spots any day, mine is looking like the surface of the moon at the moment!
pauledell Posted February 2, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 2, 2010 Alberto, A fine series and without a doubt No. 2 is the best. Paul

AlbertoDeRoma Posted February 7, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted February 7, 2010 #2 is marvelous! Thank you. And to think that I almost deleted it because the face of the man was partially obstructed by a shelf ... goes to show you that it's not about perfection. I also had no ideas that the old man had that great expression when I took the shot. That's what I love about street photography - the element of chance - as well as some risk. Thanks again for all your kind comments. They really help and motivate. Alberto
