Has M9 inspired you to sell M1-M8.2?

What sell the M8.2 for an M9!!!!

C'mon we all know that the M8/M8.2 will be worth a fortune and become a collectible in the next 2 years as the TRUE Leica Digital M, whilst the whole FF M9 hype will soon fade into nothingness...:D

Now where did I put my 39mm IR Cut filter;)

Never sell a Leica, you will regret it..;) Nevertheless, I am playing with the idea of selling one of my M8s, but then again, maybe not....

Same here. I will keep the M8u as backup for the M9, but will sell the M8. It also depends on how much I can get for it. It shows no signs of wear and has seen little action. My Leica dealer found someone willing to pay 1500 euro - is that a fair price you think?

The only thing the M9 has inspired me to do so far is to wait for an M10.
A sad state. In a few years time you will be waiting for the M11 and you will end your days without having taken a single photograph:rolleyes:

I still have my M8 upgraded (super mint condition) as well as a mint M3 double stroke. I do not plan to sell either as they occupy a niche in my arsenal that I don't want to give up.

In fact, I am planning to buy either an M7 or MP so as to have a modern film body as well as my M9.

If you look at the price escalation going on in the M world is seems silly to be selling anything. Two years from now you will have had the pleasure of using these beauties and then selling at a much appreciated price. JMHO and YMMV

My condolences.

I'm on the fence. I've never sold a Leica. Still have my M6 and M7 even though I don't shoot film too much anymore. But I'm thinking that those film cameras might integrate better with my M9 than my M8 does. No hurry in making a decision though. We'll see...

I certainly won't part with my M2. But if I go to the extra trouble of using film, I usually look for something different as a result (currently Xpan or 6x6 images).

Just sent my end-of-warranty black M8 in for a tuneup, but I plan to sell one, two or three M8's for another M9 about the middle of next year. And a small mountain of IR filters will also be available to a good home. The hassle of putting filters on or off, and discovering which filters I can actually unscrew without also removing a lens front element is becoming a bother. If I can settle on which lenses belong on an M8 and leave filters on those, I might keep the M8.2 or M8u. When things settle down, an M8 might have extra value for its 1/8000 shutter (which I don't use) and perhaps the right ad copy on EBay could start a feeding frenzy.

I have seen some used Leica M8 for sale at 1700-1800 euro with a 2-year store warranty in Brussels. I thought it is a very good price.

No need to worry, Jaap, I'm quite busy and happy shooting with either my M8u or my R9DMR. :) It's the M9 that simply doesn't do it for me...

Not yet, but after having shot only digital for 5 years and now having the M9, I'm thinking of selling my M6 and M7. They are both like new and the M7 has shot less than 10 rolls.

If I can get a decent price for any of them I would use the money for buying some good lenses.

Anybody willing to guess what could be a fair price for one or both

I will probably sell my M6 and one of my M7 and eventually sell the M8.2 when the M10 comes out (I do have the M9). I think what saddens me is that I am beginning to doubt if a father can pass a camera as inheritance to a son anymore since the rate of digital change is so dramatic.

Best regards,

Arif

I sold my M8.2 to be able to finance an M9. Unfortunately the M9 didn't arrive as soon as expected...

I am now using my M6 a lot, which is a bit more expensive than shooting digital, but apart from that, I enjoy using it.

Oh yes, I know that feeling ... I did the same thing with a slightly premature sale of the M8's which left me high & dry for a few weeks. Once your M9 arrives all will be forgotten :)

Sold M7 for M8.

Upgraded M8

Sold M8 for M9.

My only regret is selling the M7 but only from sentimentality, not from a common sense standpoint, since I no longer shoot film.
