Male 53, first Leica was an old M2 with 35mm in 1974.

Kept the body, traded in the lens for a new CL+40mm and a 90mm to put on my M2. CL body broke down several times, traded it in for a CLE and the M2 for a M3. Then all this and the Nikon gear went for Oly OM and a Contax with the front lid, that brought the lens out, forgot the name. It broke down faster than the CL though.

Found he combination of Leica, that I was using most of the times and Nikon contraintuitive, because the distance and diaphragm rings were turning in opposite directions. OlyOM and having a young guy's buget made me part with Leica M, a mistake not to be repeted.

Got two M8s before I started posting here towards the end of 2008.

This thread started in December 2006, and until this morning, had no updates since some time in 2007. I think it might be a bit stale.

Yes it looks a bit like something I found moving in the refrigerator recently:D

Anyway Guy is out of the loop IIRC.

Male, 51, M2 & M8, started with Leica stuff when I was 49 (24 if you include Leitz microscopes).

From a photography point of view the most stupid decision I made was not to start with Leica camera's earlier in life - basically I thought it was hype & no substance (+ the price, although that would have been a minor obstacle). Should have known better, but some things come with age apparently.

The microscope mentioned above was a Leitz Orthoplan pol. I had some additional gizmo's made at the mechanical workshop (of the company I was working for at the time) and they commented on the ridiculously high quality of the engineering & even complimented me on my purchasing of the thing. That was the first and only time I got a remark like that from the technicians.

Bought my first Leica (a IIIf) in December 09; caught the Leica bug and bought a used M8.2 in January 10; now have 14 Leica bodies and 39 Leica lenses. My collection is still growing... I was a 68 year old male when I began with Leica; I'm still a male but the rest is subject to change!

An old threat indeed !

But why NOT starting a new poll for a week or two ? Wouldn´t mind to

work out the results once more ... This might perhaps end with new impressions

about how "young" Leicamaniacs have become in the meantime ...

Best wishes

GEORG
