farnz Posted December 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2009 It sounds like something's preventing the forum's website from storing session cookies on your computer. Have you changed any settings in your firewall or security software recently (anti-virus etc) or reinstalled or upgraded your security software or downloaded security patches? If you have then you need to either locate the settings that you have changed and work out what's preventing the session cookies or roll back to an earlier state that allowed cookies to save. Pete. bill Posted December 6, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2009 Is it just me that still finds "cookies" an odd term? I remember when they were funny American biscuits that you only heard about in the films. Mind, I also remember the days when the wireless was something you listened to and blackberries and apples had a crumble topping... Hope you get your problems sorted soon, Haris. Regards, Bill

If it still doesn't work, please send me some details: - Browser and OS you are using - Internet access (mobile, DSL, AOL whatever) Please try another browser and perhaps another computer (if available...) jaapv Posted December 7, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 7, 2009 if you are on PC and Internet Explorer,go to <tools>, <Internet options>, <security> and set to <medium high> That should clear the problem.
jacobh Posted December 7, 2009 Share #9 Posted December 7, 2009 It happens to me too, but I must say only occasionnally. Sometimes when I have dwelled on one thread rather long. However there are also sessions where it does not happen at all so there is no clear pattern. Not as bad as you have described. Jaap Stil.
haris Posted December 8, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted December 8, 2009 Hi to all, and especially Andreas I tried to send this message to Andreas through PM, but I couldn't, forum access problem (I can access Andreas's PM, write message, but when hit send button I am required to log in again, and then I go nowhere, get some strange characters on upper and bottom (blue coloured) bars and white screen where forum content should be shown so I must to go to homepage of forum and log in again), that is why I am writting it here too: First, I am sorry for not writting earlier, I haven't had access to computer. I am using Firefox 3.5.5 on Win XP SP3, through LAN. Cookies and everything is enabled, day(s) (weeks, months, years) before problem, I accessed forum from same computer, same OS, same browser (altough earlier versions) without problems. I don't have internet connection at home, so I use shared computer at my work, that is why I didn't check "remember me" option. But, it didn't make big problems earlier, only if I am on forum and inactive for few minutes, I needed to log on again. That wasn't big deal, but problem I described at my post really didn't let me to access forum normally. Another thing, meanwhile my computer was formatted and newly installed, so I will check how it would work with forum. After checking (see top of this post), same problem is still here. Add: Browsing through forum without logging in, that is just reading posts, works normally. Note: Access to all other sites including forums, especially those I often visit (for example APUG) works normally, so I don't think it is mine computer/software/settings problem. Also, on those sites/forums I don't check "remember me" or simillar options (as already said, I use shared computer), and have no problems at all. Further, as I use multiple opened tabs on browser, same time when this problem on this forum appears, all other opened sites and forums works normally. Thanks for answers. SJP Posted December 8, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 8, 2009 Don't know if this helps. I have had some problems logging in. it accepts UN & PW, but when the page reopens the log-in box remains blank. The solution for me is to close IE (all windows/tabs), start with a fresh IE window and log in to the forum. I think it may be a "cookie conflict".
