jmr Posted July 6, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 6, 2006 Conrad, if the rest of your shots were as well executed as this, the happy couple must have been very happy indeed. Good shot.
mgcd Posted July 6, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted July 6, 2006 Thanks to each of you for taking the time to look and comment, it's much appreciated. This image and all the others from the day were scanned with a CoolScan LS-5000 and then balanced in PS. I always try to approximate selenium toning as much as I can with colour balance. From what I heard from the bride and groom they were indeed very happy with the work. You can see a few more of the images here: http://www.100portfolios.com/conrad/Docu2/hl.html

gverdon Posted July 6, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 6, 2006 Conrad, I really love this shot... lot of motion and stories... But I'm curious: did THEY like it? Gérald
mgcd Posted July 6, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted July 6, 2006 Andy, Gérald - Good to hear from you. Gérald - I only heard from the bride, not her sister, she said that she loved it. Both the bride and groom are art directors, partly the reason I accepted to do it, the other part was that they are really very cool people.
twom4 Posted July 6, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 6, 2006 They must be wondering if the photographer is still single...
mgcd Posted July 6, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted July 6, 2006 He is but that was really not the point... lol I was, relatively speaking, in your neighbourhood last week but had no time to make it to Jakarta. Hope Shinta and the kids are well.

Not only did you capture the occasion for them, you did it with great class and artistry. Superb work Conrad. DD

lambroving Posted July 6, 2006 Share #18 Posted July 6, 2006 Hello Conrad, Thanks for alerting me. Been out all day with a crazy Dutchman who's over here visiting this week and he "needed" a ride in my car. For once the weather was great when I was off! Really nice series, particularly as you were using HP5 at 1600! Tones look great. As I've said many times before, I don't know how you manage these M pictures with an R. No doubt about them being sisters. Nice catch with the eyes. Was the wedding at the huge church in Westmount? Bet you were sweating bullets about the way these would turn out. Couldn't take the heat myself...
robert_parker Posted July 6, 2006 Share #19 Posted July 6, 2006 Love the selenium toning effect and the expression of the girl on the left - the top right corner looks a little dark on my monitor but the overall balance is great
mgcd Posted July 7, 2006 Author Share #20 Posted July 7, 2006 Hello Conrad, Thanks for alerting me. William & Robert - Thanks a bunch. William - The wedding was in the main Montreal Basilica Notre-Dame church in Old Montreal. Actually they're from NYC but they wanted to get married in their favourite city. I was indeed sweating bullets since this was very personal to the bride, for obvious reasons. It did not help matters that the sister approached me and said "you're my gift to them!" I replied "Of course, I feel no pressure at this point ;-)". But they were truly lovely people. What I liked most is that when they approached me, they knew that I did not do weddings. The bride wanted a photojournalist and wanted me to do what I usually do, and that seems to have worked out well. My approach, and what they wanted was that this was simply a story I was working on. There was another photographer there strictly for the traditional posed wedding stuff and a videographer, although it was pointed out to me that I was "THE" photographer. Anyway, I was left to my own devices.
