Really sorry guys but I'm going to have to postpone the meet due to family illness. Things might be OK by next weekend but I don't want to cancel last minute.

I would suggest Saturday 3rd Feb as the new date - how does this suit people? Alternatively if people want to meet next weekend maybe someone else can arrange it?

Apologies again and let me know what you prefer.

I'm lightly pencilled in for the 3rd: I have a few other minor things to do - securing world peace, inventing a cure for all known diseases, halting global warming - but I should have them finished in time. :)

Pete.

Thanks for the messages. I'm really sorry but I cannot now do the 3rd. I have to keep certain weekends free for the next month or so and have had to rearrange other commitments, therefore propose to hold the meeting on the weekend before, Saturday January 27th.

3rd time lucky!

The venue shall be the Citte of Yorke, 22 High Holborn, a quite magnificent inn which offers some photogenic opportunities itself, not least the central open fire with a chimney which goes down into the floor! Details, directions and map here;

Cittie of Yorke Pub, Holborn, London - Traditional and Historic London Pub Guide @ Pubs.com

Meet from 12:30 on, either at the very front of the bar or the very back (largest seating areas, back in preference - just look for the red dots!).

I haven't arranged any Leica dealer visits but there are a number nearby should you wish to pay a visit before or after the pub (beware going into a Leica dealer after a few pints with a credit card in hand).

Its a Sammy Smiths pub so real ales are limited to the one, Old Brewery, but its a good pint.

Bring along your Leicas, especially if you have an M8 we can look at! I would also like to suggest that we each bring a recent photograph, in print form, which you are particularly happy with, to share with the group, a bit like a live photo forum on the day.

Look forward to seeing you on the day.

Dave,

I googled it and found this quote about the Citte of Yorke's range of Sam Smith ales:

"Samuel Smith's range: one cider, which is Strongbow-style, but nicer, more appley, £2.30 a pint".

My guess is that they'll probably also serve Strongbow or Blackthorn.

HTH,

Pete
