Fotomiguel Posted October 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can't belive it. I ordered my M9 before the 9/9/9 and I have no real info when mine is coming. I'm just wondering how many M9 have Leica produced and how they distribute between the official dealers? How they decided to which countries they send the cameras? If there are 1200 cameras out at least a 1 % should be send to Spain and I'm on the top of the list. So I should already have my camera? At least the M8 keeps me sane!

Overgaard Posted October 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 22, 2009 I heard yesterday from a Leica person that the part that had stopped production was now in stock and they could finish cameras. I've heard this before (that a part was missing) so at least the flow will start - whatever the numbers a day are. But I can promise you that when you get it ... you're going to love it. Hacker Posted October 22, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2009 I heard yesterday from a Leica person that the part that had stopped production was now in stock and they could finish cameras. I understand the part to be the LCD panel.
nemeng Posted October 22, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 22, 2009 I keep hearing that the number of M9s currently in circulation is around the 1300 mark. FWIW I believe the real number is closer to 200. Frankly there are so few M9s around that you could argue they are more marketing hype than reality =/
ArtZ Posted October 22, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 22, 2009 I understand the part to be the LCD panel. On other thread Maurizio speaks about a "sensor issue": Mark, your conclusions make sense to me.The fact that today my dealer (I alread had my M9) said me that Leica is not delivering further cameras because of a "some sort of a sensor issue" is simply just scary. Actually I don't know. It may be just rumour as well, call it vapourware. They said within a month. It would be nice to know if someone, right now, is getting is M9 order delivered... Last week I popped in at "La Maison du Leica", my usual dealer. They wanted to sell me a M9 and I said "Hummm, I'll see by Christmas...". They said even if I order one now, it will be very difficult (I understood "impossible") to get it for Christmas... If Leica has stopped the production for any reason, this makes sense. Apparently it's very difficult to get one these days, even for those people who have ordered before September 9th...

But what was the situation with M8 when it came out? Was it also delayed for months and coming out something like 5 cameras per week? I was not interested then and didn't follow M8 at all. My first month of waiting expired one week ago.

I was hoping to get mine before I went to Colorado two weeks ago but now I hope by Christmas when another trip is planned.
