  1. Bought a new Summicron 35/2 for my M10 last week. After a day of shooting I recognised that it switched NOT to 'Auto lens detection'. Instead it switched to the last Manual M setting. And I can't set it to Auto lens detection in the menu. It shows the correct frame lines for 35mm in the viewfinder. Went back to the Leica store. They wanted to change the lens and ... the new lens had the same problem. They mounted my lens on their Store M 10 and Auto lens detection worked. Have another Summilux 50mm and a Elmarit 28mm all coded and it works perfect. Any experience with this problem someone, please? Hans
  2. I just know this question will have been asked before but I have looked around the forum and can't find the answer. I have just bought an M9 ( previously had an M8 ) and I have the inevitable vingnetting on a voiglander 21mm. Is it possible to use the Lens Detection on the M9 to correct this? if so I assume I should set it to the - 21 f2.8 11134 setting. Can someone confirm that this will work or not ? many thanks
  3. Hi, I just received a lovely M9-P bought from a friendly forum member. The camera does not detect my coded 35 cron Asph. lens. It does however detect my hand coded lenses and a Summarit 35 I tried out in a local camera shop. I am trying to figure out whether the problem is with the body or the lens. My outgoing M8 has been detecting this lens just fine. However, when comparing the pits of the Summarit in the shop and my Summicron, they looked quite a bit different. My pits seem a little smaller. Also the whites are a little worn. Any advice? Thanks Dirk
  4. I use a WATE on an M8. I have just realised that the focal length selection on the M8 is only activated if the lens dection is set to "ON + UV / IR". I do not have an IR filter fitted to the WATE so I select lens detection "ON", but the 16mm, 18mm and 21mm options are not displayed. Does this mean that the M8 does not need to know what focal length I have set on the lens? The lens infomation is not included in the EXIF either. I would have thought that the camera would require edge / corner tweaks irrespective of the lens having a filter fitted or not. If anybody has any thoughts I would like the know them. regards Mark
  5. I hope that someone who has experienced this problem, or a similar one, will read this and offer advice. I am using the M10 along with the Adobe subscription software. Therefore I expect to have always up-to-date software – and bugs being removed in short order. Here is the short version. I use the Leica Summarit-M 35mm f/2.4 ASPH as my go to lens on the M10. When I mount the lens on the camera and hit the info button, the info display correctly shows 2.4 / 35 mm. When I import the raw file to lightroom classic on the pc, then the metadata in the “library” section correctly identifies the lens: LEICA Summarit-M 1:2.4/35 ASPH. But when I open “lens corrections” of the “develop” section the lens is not recognized. Actually there is an error message: “unable to locate a matching profile automatically”. I can of course activate the lens profile manually from the lightroom table: “Leica SUMMARIT-M 35 mm f/2.4 ASPH.” But I expect the system to do so automatically. All this did work for this lens up to September of last year. Then it stopped working. It still works for other lenses. Hoping for help from the learned forum.
  6. I recently updated to FW 2.0.3.0 and have been having intermittent and quite serious problems since doing so: (1) Fails to reliably detect presence of the lens This has three different manifestations: (i) "unknown" lens in meta data (ii) live view will not turn on - get an error message "No Lens Attached" (iii) live view will turn off (because it fails to detect the lens) I did not have this problem before I did the update. It is "fixed" by fiddling with the lens (moving it around), occasionally I have to actually take it off and put it back on again. (2) I've also noticed that it takes much longer to "wake up" when it has powered off. It seems like it is slower reading from the SD card than it was. So, 2 requests: Firstly, has anyone else had this problem, if so, any fixes for it? Secondly, I would prefer to go back to the previous FW version. I wasn't able to find it though (as the link the forum had posted redirects only to the latest release). Is there any list of ALL of the FW releases that Leica has put it out? I can't even remember the previous version (I think it was 2.0.2.5, in July, but I thought there was a FW release in November as well). Thanks for any help, William
  7. Hi I’m a newbie looking for some help with my M240. I just recently purchased a 28mm 2.8 (pre-ashp not coded) and have been shooting with it for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I went to use to my 50mm 1.4 (pre-ashp 6 bit coded) and the framlines are stuck on 28mm/90mm. 50mm/75mm are not being displayed. I’ve shut it down recharged the battery, reset the setting, updated the firmware to 2.0.1.7 and changed out both lens about a dozen times, powering off every time. Any other suggestion?
