  1. Was out shooting today when I noticed that the level indicator froze. When moving from landscape to portrait, the green level line rotated as well, creating a vertical line. The central up/down indicator had disappeared as well. The camera remained otherwise operable. Took a few shots, but when the problem refused to clear, I popped the battery and things were back to normal. Problem didn't reoccur for the rest of the day. The other interesting thing of note was that all of the frames taken while the level was frozen wound up upside down on import into LR. Not a big deal problem, minor nuisance really, but its likely another data point which suggests there's some subsystem locks that aren't being freed. Figured I report it. Latest firmware, btw.
  2. I posted this in firmware update thread without reply. I think it is better to start a new thread for this as I feel this is one of more serious bugs for me personally. If I want to shoot multiple frames with locked exposure in aperture priority mode, in the past, I just need half press shutter and keep it pressed and shooting. Because there is no option to enable or disable half press shutter lock exposure for Leica M. (Many other camera let you select this as option), this is especially important. I will pick two scenarios why this is important. Stitch frame: you want lock the exposure and keep exposure consistent when you do panned shots. For M11, you can only have two shot with exposure locked because after first image, the meter relock the scene right away, but after 2nd image, the meter reevaluate and re-lock again. If you took 5 image stitch, first two will have the same exposure, #3&4 have another, and #5 will be another exposure. (assume light conditions are different for each frame) Assume you take backlight portrait, you might want lock exposure by point camera down to avoid meter for highlight, (you can decide how to meter the image based on scene without using manual mode, it could be trying to overexposure or under exposure but you get my idea) Then you take the images, but you try to get a better expression, or the last one subject eyes were closed, you want keep your shutter half pressed to fire right way with original locked exposure. With M11, you can't. It will evaluate the exposure again with that backlight condition. Can you guys check if this is my camera issue or M11 issue? I tried E shutter, mechanical shutter, LV/EVF on, LV/EVF off, none of them make any difference. Any help will be welcome.
  3. Typically Exposure Preview works fine wide open. However, when stopped down to say f16 with subject matter in dim lighting, the option 'Exposure Preview > P-A-S' (vice P-A-S-M) should apparently keep the viewing (EVF or LCD) bright. Unexpectedly it doesn't, the view shows as being stopped down. Whereas, with a relatively brighter subject matter scene using f16, the preview stays bright (eg with the no exposure preview setting obeyed for manual focusing). Not easy to explain simply... Searching - found this in <Leica CL / TL / TL2 / T Forum> circa 2018. I don't see the then described snatched frames stuff but rather that the Q2M just plain stops down which ignores the set option 'Exposure Preview > P-A-S'. Seems to behave as though I had optioned the default 'Exposure Preview > P-A-S-M' or just plain ignores the set option in dim lighting. Experimented by setting 'Exposure Preview > P-A-S-M' directly in the main menu and also as a thumbwheel option but I imagine they both work as one and the same. It's really not a biggie but if somebody could confirm this either as a bug/buglet/feature or just that I've misinterpreted how the Q2M firmware should be working 😉
  4. The Calonox View usb-c port supports charging and the transfer of data (pictures, videos). It works with usb-c to usb-a cables with chargers or computers which have an usb-a port. However, the port does not work with an usb-c to usb-c cable. I tested multiple cables and different chargers and computers. Always the same negative outcome. The Calonox View device comes with an strange usb-c to usb-a/video-chinch splitter cable. This cable works - but obviously for charging and data transfer per usb-a only. I can't find the reason for this unfortunate limitation - especially considering that usb-c shall replace usb-a ports. Has someone a solution? Also, I can't figure out how to update the Calonox View firmware - nor did I find any information regarding firmwares for this device on Leica's pages. In my case, the installed firmware is v5.0 but I'm wondering how Leica want's to maintain such a high-end device without software updates? Has anybody a solutionn to this problem?
  6. Hi everyone, I've encountered a strange issue on my SL2 and am wondering if anyone experiences the same or has found a solution/workaround for it. The issue is that when I'm switching to a user profile with an M-lens attached to the camera using the Leica M-L adapter, the lens profiles section shows "Unknown Lens" and IBIS etc does not work properly. The camera for some strange reason is also stuck in ISO 100. Steps to reproduce the issue: Create a user profile with an L-mount lens attached to the camera Switch the camera off (also happens when switching lenses on-the-fly though) Mount an M lens using the Leica M>L adapter Turn camera on and switch to your user profile. In the lens selection menu it shows unknown lens. Selecting "Auto" in the Lens profiles menu fixes the issue and the M lens is properly detected. I have to do this last step each time I switch user profiles with an M lens attached to get the lens correctly recognised, which is quite inconvenient. Has anyone experienced the same or found a solution/workaround? Many thanks for your help!
