RobertW Posted January 22, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2010 Congratulations on the 1.1. It looks like a fantastic lens. Wish I could get one, but I've already gone 50mm crazy with 3 50s. You've got me thinking, you're only young once, and as I've long passed the young stage, I guess I should just enjoy! I enjoyed the shallow DOF. How's the bokeh on the 1.1 at various focal lengths? Hopefully more similar to the 35 mm f1.2, than the 40 mm f1.4? I'm very happy with the 35, and less so with the 40 under certain conditions the bokeh is "jarring". YMMV Best Rob
Pangur Ban Posted January 22, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2010 Wish I could get one, but I've already gone 50mm crazy with 3 50s. Three 50mm is hardly crazy - I've had loads more than that and currently have about six. I keep on looking at both DR Summicrons and the Nokton f1.5 as I've not used either yet, then there's this Nokton, the limited edition Heliars, the Elmarit f2.8 that has so many fans... There's a lot of 50s out there to try:D
jlindstrom Posted January 22, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2010 Can you take a picture of the mount with the coding? Mostly interested if there are any screws around the coding area to mess it up... //Juha

Photon42 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #9 Posted January 23, 2010 Reiner, do I correctly observe the Nokton has a recessed flange to allow permanent coding with pens? Rgds Ivo
@bumac Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted January 23, 2010 That's it. The same design as the new Voigtländer-LTM-adapter.

jlindstrom Posted January 23, 2010 Share #12 Posted January 23, 2010 Bumac: Thanks for the pics & info. Really nice to see there are no screws around to mess with the coding. Will definately have to keep this lense in mind as next purchase.
@bumac Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted January 23, 2010 But coding is not necessary. It will display the 50mm on the Exif - nothing more. I have compared it with and without. The results are the same. andym911 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #14 Posted January 23, 2010 hope you don't mind but I don't see anything particularly pleasing about these images. Sharpness is so so (don't see anything really sharp in any of the images) and OOF areas are also no that great.. what is appealing to you about this lens? best andy
@bumac Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted January 23, 2010 It iks 1.1, it performes well for me. Sure, it is not a Noctilux 1.2, 1.0 or 0.95. But I think it could be an interresting and affordable alternative to Leicas Noctilux for a lot of people here. You don't have to like it or to buy it. I do and I did. So. Basta. No more answers. Buy a Nocti .95 and be happy. Meanwhile I'll go out taking pics with my new so, so lens. Thread is closed. Welcome, dear visitor! farnz Posted January 23, 2010 Share #16 Posted January 23, 2010 No need to get defensive, Reiner, Andy's only expressing his opinion not dissing the lens. Others are interested in the lens so please post some more shots that show what the lens can do at other apertures and whether it shows any back focus or focus shift? Pete. jlindstrom Posted January 23, 2010 Share #18 Posted January 23, 2010 Well, without giving anybody a hard time... I have to agree with Burmac on many parts of what he says. The nocti's are just too expensive for most ppl. The 1.1 nokton seems to produce fine images. I for one can't fault them. Maybe they're not the sharpest pixel to pixel but it's definately good enough. Many ppl seem to be looking for the razor like sharpness in images these days.. I'm aking to say it's not the only way and in some cases it could actually ruin things. Just my 2c. //Juha PS. Bumac I like these shots
@bumac Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share #19 Posted January 23, 2010 Thank you. It is good to see, that we are not all millionaires. And as we say in Germany: Also other parents have nice daughters.
andym911 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #20 Posted January 23, 2010 was not intended to offend..just my view and questions.... I for one only use the 'cheaper' lenses from Leica, mainly because I like them more but also because they cost less (used LTM mostly)... hey if you're happy with it fine....and enjoy, the images just did not spark my fire-- andy
