Advertisement Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Hi Augost, Take a look here What other lenses do you use for Leica M, apart from Zeiss and voigtlander?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brianv Posted August 20, 2012 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2012 Jupiter-3 and Jupiter-12, Nikkor LTM (several), and Canon LTM(several) are my favorites. I also have some odd ones- Simlar 5cm F1.5 "good collectible", Tanack 5cm F2 (hard to tell from the Nikkor 5cm F2), Schacht, and others.

mmradman Posted August 20, 2012 Share #5 Posted August 20, 2012 These are Leica optics but not native M, so hopefully count. Elmarit R 19mm V2 and Elmarit R 28mm V2, also long R lenses in macro mode via Visoflex 3.

philipus Posted August 22, 2012 Share #9 Posted August 22, 2012 I have a Nikkor-P.C 8.5cm f2 and a Canon Serenar 135mm f3,5 which I like a lot. The former is so worn the chrome has come off almost everywhere but the lenses are in brilliant shape. The latter looks virtually new with unmarked glass. Edit: Just thought I should add some more in case it is of interest. The Nikkor is a really nice lens. It is quite heavy and feels very compact. But it isn't very large. I don't have it with me now but I think it may be 1cm longer than the Summilux 50 Asph and also something like 1cm wider in diameter. It blocks the finder a bit but not disturbingly so. I use the 75mm framelines as guidance and then the blockage isn't much to worry about. The one thing which takes some time getting used to is that the aperture rotates when one focuses (I guess it is due to the single helical? Please correct me if I'm wrong). No big problem though. Wide open it will really blur backgrounds nicely. I'll try to post an image or two later tonight. The Serenar is a big lens, wider than the 4,5 Hektor and much heavier. It (at least mine) has a very reassuring focusing movement, solid and heavy. Very long focus throw (also the Nikkor has a long focus throw btw) which allows extremely precise focusing. cheers Philip

rulnacco Posted September 9, 2012 Share #11 Posted September 9, 2012 The Jupiter-8 (50mm F2, so it's comparable in focal length/max aperture to a Summicron) is a sweet performer--mechanically and ergonomically, it's shite next to a real Leica lens, but optically it produces some mighty fine prints. And you can get one for the price of a couple of Big Macs--so it might be the best lens bargain around, in terms of price to performance ratio. I also have a Rokkor-M 40, the last (CLE) version. It's very sharp and well-built; many people put them on a par with the 35 Summicrons of that era and perhaps somewhat beyond. It's not inexpensive--they usually run between 400 and 500 dollars or so--but well less than half the cost of a 35 or 50 Summicron.

LucisPictor Posted September 10, 2012 Share #13 Posted September 10, 2012 Apart from Leica (Summitar 50, Elmar 90 and Hektor 135) and Voigtländer (Ultron 28)? Well, my three Jupiters: 3, 8 and 12. But the 12 always with a strange feeling.

jankap Posted October 7, 2012 Share #20 Posted October 7, 2012 I like the 28mm/2.8 too. I have the first version of the Canon 135mm/3.5. Last month I dropped this very heavy lens. It was no problem to find another one, this time I bought the third version. Jan
