OKARO filter for a IIIf

Has anyone any suggestions where I might be able to find an OKARO filter in decent condition for my IIIf? I've been watching on eBay for a while, but without any success - and I've looked around most of the on-line Leica dealers.

I just had two, found in a drawer with some remains of my Fontenelle Collection, but since I published the attached photo on this Forum, another Leica lover asked for them, and they are ready for mailing. Sorry!

Michael,

Red Dot Cameras in London is advertising a 'red contrast filter for 2, 3 and 3a', which may be the ORAKO 14057 rather than the OKARO 14058 you're after although it's not easy to tell just from the photo.

Alternatively, Croydon Photo Centre is offering an OKARO under its "Leica Filters (new and secondhand)" section.

Hopefully, it will work out for you with Don's OKARO but if not I will happily vouch for both of these Leica dealers from whom I've bought equipment in the past with excellent service.

Pete.

Ooooo that's terrible $100!!!!! Manfred's prices have always been unrealistic ~ I guess I better wait till I see one on Ebay, or private sale, I have NEVER paid over $35/$40 for one and they are NOT worth that much, (the chrome IIIC ones) LOL!!!!!! ;)

Maybe the rare black paint one's for the Leica II and III's are worth that kind of money, but not a normal IIIC OKARO ~ But, Thanks anyway Luigi! :)

I just read Tom's post here. I've recently got a nice early (1932) black Leica II. The rangefinder window appears to have a black-rimmed YELLOW OKARO filter. I understood OKAROs come in red or orange, not yellow. Anyone seen this before? Is this one of those apparently rare black paint OKAROs or is this a regular Leica II rangefinder filter?

BTW, sorry for highjacking this thread...

Here's the Leica II, and the OKARO itself. The OKARA is on the rangefinder window at the left when facing the camera back.

Just to be sure about : did you unscrewed it or unclamped it ? cause if you unscrewed it, it is part of the range finder window (and it looks like that) if you unclamped it, it can be an exotic OKARO but I doubt about...

Thanks for getting back. It's screwed on. It is similar to the normal rangefinder windows on my other cameras (e.g. the black Leica III's rangefinders) but it is definitely yellow glass while the others have uncolored glass.

Meanwhile, someone suggested that it could be a window from a separate rangefinder like a FOKOS or FOFER and the likes.

It is the standard Leica II rangefinder window. Mine is identical. Rgds, David

Thanks, I've now searched the forum and found this link (http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/53708-inherited-leica-i-s-n-39678-a.html) were Erik mentions the right window of the II having a yellow glass. I've googled evrywhere, but couldn't find this info til you mentioned it.
