hello abhinava

in my humble opinion, there is no need to hesitate before buying this lens. it is so small, so easy to use, so sharp (stop down 1-2 stops if you can to get the best result), with good color rendition, at a VERY SMALL PRICE.

you can look at reid reviews for more details about the lens, filters, etc.

please hurry. i'm looking forward to your first photos from india with the 15mm.

kind regards

rick

A great little lens that is very inexpensive and for the money, excellent quality. Don't hesitate. Below is Glendalough in Co. Wicklow, Ireland at f5.6.

By all means do expect miracles; the lens is quite good. Having said that, plan on using it wide open or near wide open (i.e., F:/5.6) where it is best. The photo I have attached was handheld and taken last week while attending the Fort Worth Arts Festival. Of course, the lens is much sharper than shown by this small file. Buy it, you'll love it.

Great little piece of glass. Here a photo with the 15 on a M8.

I had the CV 12 and 15. I sold the 15 and kept the 12.

Consensus seems to be that the 12 is sharper than than the 15 and has better build quality. I also like the focus lever and indents at .5m and 1m on the 12.

Of course the 12 is nearly twice the price, and only you can decide if the 12mm focal lengh suits you as well as the 15. The 12 is also a touch slower at F5.6 vs 4.5.

Hello abhinava!

I bought the Super Wide-Heliar 2 years ago.

I took a good many pictures with it and than I 'forgot' it for more than one year!

Before my Hollidays in Spring,

I remember that I have it, and used it during those days and did't regret it!

Voigtlaender lenses are great for black white low resolution films like Ilford and fomapan (about 80 - 160 l/mm) and they perfom well on digital but when applied to high res films like adox (350 - 800 l/mm) or slides specially E100VS and GX (about 330 l/mm)there is a whole world of difference in DETAIL & COLOUR. but i would prefer experiencing the cheap high performance lenses from Zeiss specially C Biogon 4.5/21 ZM. but dont even think about the Distagon 2.8/15mm ZM cuz its too expensive. [NOTE: a 10.3mp camera is equivalent to a 112 l/mm film while Adox CMS with 800 l/mm = 527mp and E100VS with 330 l/mm = 89.7mp all in 24x36mm format]

I have practical experience using TechPan, Kodak Imagelink and SPUR high resolution films with the 15mm closed down one stop on M6 and M7 placed on very sturdy tripods and enlarging the negatives as much as posssible on my V35 (i.e. 16x) with the Apo-Rodagon.

The 15 mm is an amazingly good lens. And great for high resolution film.

BTW, quoting lines-per-mm-resolution without stating the contrast to which the film was developed is like talking abot car petrol consumption without stating if the figure is gallons per mile or litres per 100 kilometer.

If you have the extra cash go for the Zeiss 18mmf4 Distagon. I have used this 15mm lense and don't care what anybody says : It has limitations and its not easy to use either.

But I still maintain that for the price you get a lot.
