Love the M7

Yes, I do love my M7 which, when travelling, is a constant companion -- as is my M8. Usually the M7 is loaded with TriX, and in addition to providing great pix on its own, is a fine backup to the M8. I travel in areas where it is sometimes difficult to charge batteries and the M7 with it's little batteries and their long life does the job. I have an M3 but rarely use it since I've grown accustomed (lazy?) to the auto-exposure etc. of the M7.

I love my M7 too!!

Must admit that I was rather unsure about it at the start - thought that I'd prefer my M6 - but every time I use it, I feel wonderfully confident that it's probably the best-made thing I've ever had in my hands (excepting the missus that is) ;)

Since 1945, I've owned and used (exclusively) the IIIc, M4, M6, and now, the M7.

Since I shoot slides almost exclusively, the accuracy of the M7's shutter has enabled me to get more decently exposed shots per roll. ( Please!, No comments upon my ability to turn those decently exposed slides into superbly composed and artistic photos.)

Since I use an incident meter, I can set an exposure on the M7, then use the meter to determine the needed f stop. Yes, I know that the built-in reflective meter is accurate; however, I'm addicted to the incident exposure concept.

When AE is needed, IMO, the M7 is in a class by itself. You just need to learn the strengths and limitations of its enlarged "spot meter" capabilities.

I have used a M7 for five years it's my steady companion. I use HP5 and a notilux to get low light shots. It has served me well. When I was in college we had M4's to use in class.I lusted after the M7 when it was introduced it has become my favorite camera.

M4s to use in college! Wow! What well -heeled college was this! They made us buy our own K1000s in my neck of the woods. We were taought well however and when we graduated we graduated to Leica in the fullness of time.

R. Morrison, M4-P, etc. (still have the K1000)

Whoa!!! I knew the M7 will post it's own thread...

The fastest film M Leica ever produced with it's Aperture Priority and Exposure Lock capability.

The most accurate shutter (electronic) with quick and amazing result on sub 60th sec shutter speed that blend well with a Noct.

My official Transparency Film body, yet would load load B&W or color negative if speed is required on any event.

Flash photography??? No problem here with it's TTL capability and directly compatible and interchangeable to a Digilux 2 flash head or a Metz with an SCA 3502 module.

DX Reader Capability??? Sorry guys... I never trust "any" camera with a DX reader unless it tell me on an LCD or LED what is my ISO. :D

Official Lens: Summilux 35mm f1.4 ASPH (1st. Ver.)

OMG!!! Now I have colleagues from the M3 and M6 thread calling me traitor... :(

-Ron

By far taste I explain to you how this seizure this photo Paul.

When I saw “love the M7” surprised to me that there was not any photo of this wonderful camera when in post of "M2", "M3",“M6” and “M8” there are many.

Immediately I thought that that could not follow thus and I put myself to make the photo.

The conditions were not the best ones because the light is the one of a halogenous lamp of table of work of 50W that I did not change of its starting point of work.

I put the camera in the place that occupied the keyboard of the computer on a t-shirt of my son who was close and I oriented it so that the light was thus; having the strap and cover objective in the position that is seen (with grazing light). I decided not to remove the complete camera because it seemed more impressive to me.

The camera with which the photo is done is a Leica V-Lux1 that I mounted in a tripod Gitzo and which I had in the position of macro choosing a diaphragm 8 and 20 seconds of time and the objective 35mm and 100 ISO for a RAW file. The firing I carried out it with the timer in 2”.

I believe that lack nothing else that not to say to you that I am very satisfied with which I obtained in 15' and that I thank for much to you your interest by this photo which I keep by far affection.

The camera for me is unique.

Cordially.

I love my M7 too... My "Focus and Shoot" RF camera. I can see what is my shutter speed while shooting. I do not have that "Opps... I did not realize that the shutter was that slow" moments. Of course this is also one of the reasons why I love my M5 :)

I agree! :)

My first RF and Leica at that. The electronic shutter has a key advantage - super accurate exposures with positive film. My only modification is the M3 / MP style solid film advance lever.I only wish that the viewfinder had a bit more eye-relief.

All the same it is a gem!
