Stealth3kpl Posted May 30, 2012 Share #2 Posted May 30, 2012 (edited) LOL, I was just about to start a "Plustek 120 very good for our money?" thread in preparation. Mark just posted this encouraging news. Pete:) Edited May 30, 2012 by Stealth3kpl
plasticman Posted May 30, 2012 Share #3 Posted May 30, 2012 Not yet on the market but a "teaser" page is up: OpticFilm 120 | Introduction | Plustek logged-in to post the very same link! Looks very promising! Slightly disappointed that the holders seem to obscure the film edge - but I love the way they've thought through holding the film while being able to adjust the position of individual frames. Much better than the Nikon versions (if they work as intended, that is). I also realized from this how much smaller it is than the 9000 - which is something of a mammoth. If the Plustek rep posting on RFF is to be believed, the quality is nearer to a Flextight X5 than the 9000. Great to see it's getting closer. Fewer sleepless nights worrying about the Nikon breaking from now on. ... and I see Pete was posting while I was writing...
250swb Posted May 30, 2012 Share #4 Posted May 30, 2012 It sort of makes a lie out of the 'film is dead' mantra doesn't it. A company in the marketplace seeing the possiblities and sales from their 35mm scanners and making a brand new product. I honestly don't know in which direction Dr Kaufmann is looking when he says film only has a few years left. He makes a scary advocate for Leica's future. plasticman Posted May 31, 2012 Share #7 Posted May 31, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Exactly. Seems like the Middle East web-team have jumped the gun putting these pages on a publicly accessible server. It was an eagle-eyed member of RFF who picked up on it. The thread over there has many more details from Plustek about the development process and anticipated launch.

It's just one of those web things that gets turned on accidentally during testing and never gets turned off! It's actually up on the US site to, but you really have to be sneaky to find it!
sblitz Posted May 31, 2012 Share #9 Posted May 31, 2012 what do you think the msrp on it will be and any sense on when it will be officially offered? i appreciate it is just a guess, but some guesses are a bit more educated because of familiarity with the manufacturers tendencies. too old to care Posted June 1, 2012 Share #10 Posted June 1, 2012 Mark, I really would like to replace my dying Canon 8800F soon, can we expect it by Christmas? I can start leaving around a few hints early just to be sure my wife does not buy me more socks and a new belt for my expanding waist line. janki Posted June 10, 2012 Share #16 Posted June 10, 2012 Thanks to everyone who has provided information about OpticFilm 120. I have a CS 9000 today, but fear the day it will no longer work. Even if I should decide myself to stop completely to shoot film, - I have of course like most others, - thousands of pictures already taken with film, which I would like to communicate digitally. OpticFilm 120 resembles very much on CS 9000. I hope this optics is just as good. Does anyone know who manufactures this lens? Anyway, I am looking forward to study tests done with this scanner. luigi bertolotti Posted June 12, 2012 Share #19 Posted June 12, 2012 I wonder why they posed the cheapest 120 TLR of any time (Lubitel... I had one 37 years ago... ) for the display of such (apparently) a fine item...
sblitz Posted June 12, 2012 Share #20 Posted June 12, 2012 got this back from plustek today -- "The Optic Film 120 won't be releases until Mid Sep , And far as the MSRP goes I do not know because it is not yet in our US office."
