Bokeh comparison of 50 Summicron-R with 60-Elmarit

I must say that the 50 Summicron-R isn't a favorite for bokeh. I'm spoiled by the 35-'lux-M ASPH and the 50 lux-M ASPH.

Comments on the 60 macro-R bokeh? Thanks.

Bokeh is so much a matter of personal taste, and of the specific conditions present at the time of any given shot. Zeiss has recently published a very good article (on their website, but in German only, I fear) on bokeh, explaining what influences bokeh and that any given lens can have very different bokeh under different circumstances.

That said, I like the bokeh of my 60mm Macro-Elmarit a lot. In fact, I like the whole lens a lot and prefer it over the Summicron 50.

Salgado managed quite well with the 60 Macro-R 2.8 and I dont recall seeing ugly bokeh with his work.

Were I using the R system I would use this over the 50mm for a somewhat longer FL and amazing up close performance, but each to their own.

This is just a snap of my daughter taken some weeks ago with the 50 Summilux R (60mm Filter, Latest Version). I have the 50 Summilux Asph M and it is a wonderful lens, but the 50 Summilux R is no slouch.
