  1. Spend the money on the head and an integrated plate on the body. I have RSS plates for my SL, and Arca Swiss head.
  2. Please start a thread on using your SL as a negative scanner.... especially the equipment setup. I've found it tremendously slow going, frustrating... so be sage for the rest of us!
  3. Exactly. Even with a ROM’d R lens, Leica R-SL adapter, “Auto magnification” switched on, I have to press the joystick to get the EVF zoomed in. I just noticed something else. It didn’t auto-detect the R-lens. I wonder if that has something to do with it? I’ll have to test this all side by side with the SL601.
  4. Yes, stays at 100. Seems odd that it is lens-related? I have Leica adapters, but neither the M nor R lenses do the auto zoom when I manually adjust the focus. I did check the Focus option and “Auto magnification” is “On” but this seems to work with SL lenses only. Again, not SL601 behavior.
  5. Auto ISO mode. Works fine with SL lenses. But with an R lens and the Leica adapter it doesn’t adjust. Also, the SL used to switch to focus zoom when I touched the focus ring on an S lens but no longer does so on the SL2-S. What’s up? Is my memory failing me? Thanks.
  6. Did you keep S lenses for the SL? I'm in a similar boat... but I still have the lenses and am awaiting the arrival of my new SL2-S. It's hard to rationalize selling the 70 and 100 for SL somewhat-equivalents.
  7. This is getting interesting. Any experience with the Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/2.8 O.I.S and the DMW-STC14 Lumix S 1.4x Teleconverter on an SL2-Whatever?
  8. I had the Leica adapter and found it very accurate to use. Are you using an off-brand adapter? Perhaps you can visit a shop that has an adapter in stock to try? Dean
  9. You really have to want this lens. I found the focus throw too long for my tastes, and difficult on the R system to nail focus. I think the look at 1.4 is Leica-glow-exceptional, but it's a challenge to use, very heavy too. All that said, when you get a great shot you may feel accomplished -- or lucky! As they say, it's better to be lucky than talented. Best if you are both. Dean
  10. That folks are buying the GFX100S? I don't know. I just tried out the SL2-S and think it a significant enough improvement of the SL601 to buy it. A pleasure to shoot, and will definitely improve the chances that I'll get the shots (via better AF and ISO performance). I picked up a lightly used 35-SL which are now plentiful as folks with SL2 move to the 28 (cropping is more feasible there). But then I was looking at my catalog and admiring images from an outdoor event I shot a long time ago... with a Leica DMR. I love the colors!

Thanks for the good wishes. I think this lens could become popular on the Fuji GFX100 cameras given that electronics aren't needed in the adapter, and it has live view.

Ah! The hair dangling over the tree is lovelee. Different. More than the other pictures it hints at her nature rather than her nurture. Ah, but what do I know! Dean

Very useful summary. On an expensive whim I acquired one of these 4 years ago. I never got the hang of it so it's a paperweight to me. Any pointer on it's operation will be appreciated.... I guess I should YouTube. Thanks for the details already provided. Dean
  14. Isn't the sensor/flange distance the same for the S body as the SL+S adapter? I am sold on the EVF. The S autofocus isn't so good, so the SL EVF gives me better results than my S007 ever did. Which is why my choice is limited to make use of the S lenses (when perfection is needed) and M and R lenses for more Mandler magic. The GFX100S is overkill. For me, 35MP is ample resolution and I don't care for the 3x4 ratio... confining!
  15. You liked the SL2 IQ better than an S006? S007? I ask because I have a bevy of S lenses for the SL601. I miss the IQ of the S bodies... To paraphrase Hamlet, the question is "To SL2 or SL2S? That is the question!"
