Anyone use Q2 for Microstock or professional work?
CRTZMO replied to Snowman's topic in Leica Q3 / Leica Q2 / Leica Q
With a full-frame sensor and stellar glass, the Q2 is extraordinarily capable. The detail in a properly exposed photograph is outstanding, and the data size meets even the most extreme stock specifications. If the fixed 28mm isn’t a limitation to your style and subject matter, a good fit for the role. Replace your memory cards with FAST chips — the camera’s write speed is ravenous, and slower cards will negatively affect your shooting cadence. -
I’m jealous, yet undeterred 🙂

So helpful — thank you very much. Good day!

Has anyone seen the Leica Q2 thumb support in stock at a Leica dealer or reseller? Thank you!

Very helpful — a big thanks to all who posted!!

Does anyone own or has anyone seen a Leica Q2 Thumb support? Thanks in advance for a quick ping if you have — cheers!

My question exactly — the EC dial is the element that I have yet to burn into muscle memory. Coming from Fujifilm X100 platform, the placement of the Q2 dial is awkward to my hand, unnatural for my thumb. I hope the Thumb Support creates a topographical “this way to EC dial” ridge that informs my apparently untrainable right thumb...

BP-SCL4 ripoff of Americans vs Europeans
CRTZMO replied to setuporg's topic in Leica Q3 / Leica Q2 / Leica Q
Even in high-markup Japan they’re less. I attributed that to a regional manufacture and a low tariff situation, but that is a guess. -
Bought my Q2 from Leica Bellevue. Beautiful camera – and excellent service from the staff!

Half cases-- time to decide and appreciate feedback
CRTZMO replied to hockey44's topic in Leica Q3 / Leica Q2 / Leica Q
Hi all, I recently bought the Q2 (Leica Store Bellevue) and after a week of no-case use, bought the Leica Protector half case – I love it! I also have a M6 and have tried a few different cases from manufacturers mentioned in this thread, all worth the cost and no regrets. What I really like about the Q2 case from Leica, however, is the simple, clean fit, especially around the strap lugs – no snap. I haven’t tired of removing it for card/battery swaps .. yet. It was expensive, but after the Q2, an extra battery, a big fast card, why not?? -
As a long term resident of Tokyo, there are no Leica “deals” in Japan. Reputable online resellers exist, and tend to be below crazy eBay trends, but I believe you’ll do better in USA if you can buy without tax. https://www.rangefinder.com.hk/ – these Hong Kong sellers do a great job for me, if you’re in Asia with money to burn.

User reviews will help – some mount loosely, some dangerously tight, and hopefully some with the tensile feel of a typical M-Mount lens. Check a couple sources, Youtube has reviews galore, and Amazon buyer reviews as well. Not your typical source, but heavily trafficked and “vetted” by commenters.
-
Note that this is not a Leica/Nikon issue – any non-M Mount lens will require live-view focusing and exposing. The dozen-odd adapter manufacturers have made garage-sale finds a functional reality, and the M10 is the perfect recipient with focus peaking, and TTL framing.

I use a half case on a M6. Really like the feel, grippy and solid. I don’t like the increased bulk. As far as removing the case, it is quick and painless; a good case will not loosen over its life span. Artisan & Artist LMB-M7.
