Ben : No Nocti effect here, I was down @5.6 so as to have enough DOF for these “blind” captures. I use that 30 years old lens 7/24, it develops the neck muscles. Here is the original capture, straight from C-One without any processing whatsoever. I prefer a square or a vertical framing for close-up portraits, just like the oil-masters. I only added a slight rotation in order to level the glass of beer (I am finicky about level horizons and vertical buildings). Welcome, dear visitor! Graeme, in my opinion the ff does not work well in B&W: the background elements are not recognizable at all and become indistinct, distracting blur; the subject appears squeezed below the tent ceiling and looses character. I couldn’t agree more Michael: maybe Leica could throw in an EVF “upgrade” on the M8 for some experts? I have tried B&W for #2 Ivan, but I feel the forefront nicotine stained fingers to be an important sociological clue here: they just show up as dirty after conversion.
