My M9's serial number is 3905000. Do digital Leicas also show extra profit/value given cool serial numbers? (now, later, or never?) What is your guess/estimation/opinion?

Best regards,

Christoph

My opinion is that you have some friend in Solms... :p... nice number ! Ask him who got 3904999 and 3905001... :)

You surely did notice that the sum of the digits is 24 while the 2nd week of September is week 36 , perfect for a FF M9 :D

And that if you subtract the first digit from the second, the result is the last digit! And that the sum of the third and fourth digits is equal to the sum of the fifth and six digits! And that if both sums are added together, they equal the sum of the first and the last digits, which is also the second digit! And even that the first digit multiplied by the second digit is equal to the sum of all of the digits! This is a very auspicious serial number. I think you need to consult your local Sybil about this. :D

One (potential) reason why Leica does not assign sequential serial numbers: Applied Statistics: How sequential serial numbers exposed the Nazi industry

Very interesting!

Best regards,
