loksi Posted September 9, 2009 Share #63 Posted September 9, 2009 Does BW great too.........2500 iso Now we're talking. I am rather more interested in how B&W appears (personal preference), and this looks very good at high ISO. Thanks for all your efforts in getting these samples out

FastFashnReloaded Posted September 9, 2009 Share #68 Posted September 9, 2009 2500 iso samples here are brilliant in brilliant sunlight. in shades - the noise is very much there. M9 needs a firmware update to get a noise free 2500 iso. no matter how hapy we are, we are still looking at a £4850/$7000 camera - in the highest price bracket for DSLR. M9 needs a firmware update... You really, really don't know much about electronics, do you? All firmware would do would be to kick in some processing, sensor noise would still be there. Just drop it into Photoshop if you don't like the noise. I'm beginning to think you are upset because you can't afford the camera. Tree pretty, fire bad? wilfredo Posted September 9, 2009 Share #71 Posted September 9, 2009 Thus far the only significant value I've seen in the M8 is the larger file size for cropping out unwanted stuff and still have a good size file. That magenta cast on the dress of the young lady is a concern. I wonder if a UV/IR filter on the lens would fix that? (I'm being serious). Glad to see the B&W conversions are very similar to the M8. That's what drew me to the M8 in the first place.
toke Posted September 9, 2009 Author Share #72 Posted September 9, 2009 My thoughts about the M9: Much much better high iso performance!!!!!!! and many more iso steps in the menu Full frame, so I can use my 21mm lens again...(and not the F.4,5 15mm) and I gain stops.... Manual lens selection in menu, for uncoded lenses Feels fast and good... I wouldn't worry about the magenta cast....the shot was completely against the sun, and I exposed for the girl, so the background is probably overexposed by 20 stops or so..... The crop of the window down the stairwell at 1600... Wow. That noise level is pretty decent.
lct Posted September 10, 2009 Share #75 Posted September 10, 2009 Great results as far as light fall off with the pre-asph 21/2.8 above. I feared that uncoded wides would be handicapped with the M9 but Leica did a fantastic job here apparently.
futureancient Posted September 10, 2009 Share #76 Posted September 10, 2009 That scarf is definitely flare imo. Nothing to worry about on that one. Great shots.
leica007 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #77 Posted September 10, 2009 M9 needs a firmware update... You really, really don't know much about electronics, do you? All firmware would do would be to kick in some processing, sensor noise would still be there. Just drop it into Photoshop if you don't like the noise. I'm beginning to think you are upset because you can't afford the camera. Tree pretty, fire bad? this is offensive, it's preferable if you stay away from making such comments. there's nothing to be upset about. photography can't hide anything. if the images show noise - it's there. i don't know about electronics, and photography does not require one to have such knowledge - otherwise we would all have our own DIY DRFs. if it's not firmware - which i assume to be the only ugradable path used by the manufacturers - may be there's more trouble in spending lots of money and then spending lots of time cleaning in PS. Do you have plenty of time at hand to fiddle with your photos? or, should i assume that you buy slightly dirty clothes in the market and then wash it before wearing those the first time? KM-25 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #78 Posted September 10, 2009 Toke, most of your images look flat / overexposed and this is actually a common occurence here, make the images look really, well, digital. Try getting the exposure a bit more dialed, otherwise, that great Leica glass is not living up to it's full potential. From today at Pictureline, I spent nearly two hours with the M9, still undecided, especially for 7K. Linda Leslie and James Butler were soooper nice to chat with. Might have pulled the trigger if they had one for sale....maybe it is good they didn't, this camera might be too much of a distraction from shooting Kodachrome. 28 Summicron at F/2, ISO 800: Welcome, dear visitor! afedorov Posted September 10, 2009 Share #79 Posted September 10, 2009 Hmm strange comment - KM are you sure your monitor is not out of calibration - to me most his images look very good - exposure is very accurate... maybe just a matter of taste of course - but I do not see any "flatness"
