rosuna Posted September 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was hard to believe for me... but this small company of 1000 workers (or so) did the impossible... I'll eat my hat... If someone says me Canon, Sony or Nikon would develop simultaneously three cameras, MF, the smallest FF camera and a gorgeous compact camera... I would have thought it was a bad joke... Kudos to Leica !!!!!!! Welcome, dear visitor! devils-advocate Posted September 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2009 Second that! Leica has really 'thrown-down' in a world of consumer electronics giants. They make objects of such unique beauty and functionality. Let us hope they make it!

jtorrents Posted September 9, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2009 Congratulations to Leica for the new products. And also for the marketing campaign. Maybe now I will buy some Seal music in the Itunes store...
sandymc Posted September 9, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 9, 2009 I see it, and I cannot believe it. How they did this? Not to take away from Leica's achievement, but the M9 electronics were Jenoptik, and the X1 by their unnamed Japanese provider. Sandy
Jonsi Posted September 9, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 9, 2009 Seal was right in his presentation, this is a great day for Leica! Congratulations! Jonsi.

Jamie Roberts Posted September 9, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 9, 2009 What has Leica done? They've made a full-frame, no-IR-filter required, low-light capable digital M, which was physically impossible 3 years ago when the M8 was shipped. That alone is pretty incredible. But they've also shipped the S2 and have the X1 in the product mix, so they've come out of a very confusing time for them and into a clear product line-up. Personally, I still wish there was an S2-light or R10, but that's not to be for now, anyway. Real congratulations should go to Leica and to Kodak, who obviously worked together on the microlens technology necessary to make this happen. I have to say even the usually uninspiring dPreview shots--with beta firmware--are pretty impressive; I didn't see much evidence of vignetting. budrichard Posted September 9, 2009 Share #15 Posted September 9, 2009 Not withstanding actual user reports, it appears that Leica has "hit one out of the ball park" this time! The M9 is finally the fitting successor to the M3! The presentation and speeches were very well done.-Dick
eddale Posted September 9, 2009 Share #16 Posted September 9, 2009 Not to mention getting a new model out to stores in record time - brilliant work

lct Posted September 9, 2009 Share #18 Posted September 9, 2009 ...The M9 is finally the fitting successor to the M3!... Let's say to the M2. 0.68x magnification is far from the M3's 0.91x.
rebelfocus Posted September 9, 2009 Share #19 Posted September 9, 2009 I wish Leica the very best success with the 3 cameras. I will be upgrading my M8.2 to M9. It looks like a really great camera. I think it is good to see the X1 also as this will attract new people to the brand and build new loyalties. I'm also surprised and delighted to see that Phil Askey of dpreview bought an M8 after reviewing it some years ago and now a strong Leica fan. They even changed the dpreview website logo to a Leica style red dot for today which is quite a tribute. I have never seen them do anything like that before! cmdrfire Posted September 9, 2009 Share #20 Posted September 9, 2009 I came away very impressed. Three very ground-breaking products - even if we knew about them beforehand the impact was still there. I missed when he said about availability of the M9! Can someone recap when they will be available? ...not that I'll be able to buy one for some time, but nevertheless...
