Excluding Safari and Apple from the webcast.

Safari and Snow Leopard work fine in this forum. The issue is the provider of the M9 webcast says Safari is not recommended for that program. I have to say that this is a huge miscalculation on the part of Leica brass, as a large percentage of their user-base is likely to be Apple users. Like most folks that are even remotely technically savvy, I have Firefox installed on my box in addition to Safari. However, there is a large percentage of Leica users that I know personally who are not. These are folks who are well enough funded to be able to enjoy the finer things in life, like Leica and Apple products. These folks are mainly tech illiterate, and would not be able to download Firefox without help. Also, they would be insulted that they would have to do something special because of their decision to use a minority OS. After all, they use the minority OS because it is thought to be better than the majority player. Heck, isn't that why they also use Leica camera's? You would think that the Leica brass would understand this? Excluding rich clients that like your exclusivity seems silly...

I just noticed that "Safari not supported" warning today when I went to watch the webcast. Took maybe 5 minutes to download and install Firefox and get the presentation up.

Decent job, but lacking the style and pizzazz of Steve Jobs' presentations. :(

If you missed it, you didn't miss anything, I'm sorry to say.

I do wonder why some sites don't like Safari. You'd think by now either Apple or the sites would have got the incompatibilities ironed out.

I didn't notice any incompatibilities (10.6/Safari 4.0.3), which left me to note only the bias vs. Apple/Mac. It's unfortunate the Leica name had to be associated.

Ain't that the truth....how can the announcement of such a great new product be made boring....watch and learn the Leica team, lol... plus, the website was not updated until hours after the broadcast. Apple syncs the update almost immediately as the words leave Steve's mouth.

Leica needs to embrace all things Apple...I don't have a single guy in my professional group locally that is still running a PC.

Also, maybe its just me....but what is up with all the crappy blown highlight exposures for photo examples? In 30 years of shooting if I presented that stuff to the client as work product much laughter would ensue... about the chances of me being paid or hired again...

Maybe I am just getting old, lol, but I would like to see shots that display the new camera's dynamic range, not lack of it...

I guess the unintended effect Leica brochure photos have on me is to compel me to try it myself, because I am assuming for the price of a car, this camera system has to be capable of better stuff than this. =)

For instance, SHOW ME examples of high ISO improvement in magnified detail. One of the biggest problems with the M8, and I am gonna have to check it out myself...seems silly they don't make it obvious...I really was hoping to see some great proof.

I bought my D3 sight unseen because when it was announced Nikon showed me a horn player at a jazz club at 6400, with almost no noise...I can't be the only one wanting to see how much Leica has improved in this area.

Anyway, 9-9-9 was a happy day, and got me to part with some red dot coin to see what all the noise is about, lol...
