Advertisement Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Hi stunsworth, Take a look here Your 9/9/9 Questions. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
footnoteblog Posted September 5, 2009 Share #22 Posted September 5, 2009 That poster didn't exactly make that question clear (is the definition of expensive subjective?); but I would rephrase more like: Would you ever consider a pricing strategy that caters to photographers instead of rich dentists? Or, kidding aside: How would you forsee returning back as a stronger presence in the photographer's market rather than resting on your laurels and an over-priced product strategy (e.g., collectibles vs. worktools)? I'm not joking; this is an answer I've wanted for around two decades.
jamriman Posted September 5, 2009 Share #23 Posted September 5, 2009 5500 Euros - that's including French VAT. Nice. A down payment on a small car. I'll have to be happy with my devalued M8, sell it along with my nocti. I don't think I'll part with my Nocti.

I don't think I'll part with my Nocti. If you think of it as only being 500 Euros more expensive than an M8.2 it doesn't seem so bad <grin>.

True but the M8.2 is all ready over priced.
giordano Posted September 5, 2009 Share #28 Posted September 5, 2009 Why no sync socket?
stunsworth Posted September 5, 2009 Share #29 Posted September 5, 2009 Why no sync socket? I'm sure that when Mark Norton takes his M9 apart he'll be able to confirm there's no space.
sjöbjörn Posted September 5, 2009 Share #30 Posted September 5, 2009 Thank you for giving the opportunity for asking questions! Depending on what is presented (seems to be M9 and X1), I would like to know if Leica has any plans for a new Digilux 2 ( like an X1 with EVF and zoom). thompsonkirk Posted September 6, 2009 Share #31 Posted September 6, 2009 Why oh why oh why return to viewfinder lines accurate at 1 meter? So we'll later buy a viewfinder upgrade? Kirk
garygsandhu Posted September 6, 2009 Share #32 Posted September 6, 2009 Please ask : What is the shutter lag?
SJP Posted September 6, 2009 Share #33 Posted September 6, 2009 Please ask: What is the shutter lag?The M8 has no discernable shutter lag, the M9 is presumably even better.
lct Posted September 6, 2009 Share #34 Posted September 6, 2009 The M8 has no discernable shutter lag, the M9 is presumably even better. Why presumably? Just curious as 18MP are heavier than 10MP aren't they.
SJP Posted September 6, 2009 Share #35 Posted September 6, 2009 Thats the processing time after the shot has been taken, which should be shorter as processing power has improved over the past 2½ years (by more than a factor 2).
UliWer Posted September 6, 2009 Share #36 Posted September 6, 2009 Why oh why oh why return to viewfinder lines accurate at 1 meter? So we'll later buy a viewfinder upgrade? Kirk The framelines for the M3 were accurate at 1m (shortest focussing distance). As later lenses allowed to focus on 0.7 m they decided to tune the framelines for this distance with the M8 (the 90mm frames were kept on 1m and seemed to be rather precise). The M8.2 went to 2m. So now they are compromising on the M3 standards again. Oh...I forgot, this is about questions... sorry, I have none.

Thanks but the Leica's technical data say: M8 : "2 pictures per second and 10 pictures in series" M9 : "Approx. 2 pictures/s and 8 pictures in series"
SJP Posted September 6, 2009 Share #38 Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks but the Leica's technical data say:M8 : "2 pictures per second and 10 pictures in series" M9 : "Approx. 2 pictures/s and 8 pictures in series" Which means the buffer is 8/10x18/10.5 = about 1.37x bigger (or 2.7 if they have implemented full 16bits storage) yet another improvement. Also this could be the slowest case including onboard jpeg. The question was about the shutter lag, the time between pressing the shutter release button and the shutter firing. This is 0ish on the M8.

nhabedi Posted September 6, 2009 Share #40 Posted September 6, 2009 The first pic OK but the second one? If you take 2 pics in one second how long does it make? That's not what's usually called "shutter lag".
