The external viewfinder probably not. One question for those that use one, if I do not go for the super expensive Leica version and go for one from another maker, do you buy the 24? Many years ago, I had an M6 and a 21 with external finder. I have never really liked them. The finder not the M6 or 21. I wouuld love to try this lens, but I don't want to use the extra viewfinder. And if I ever get a FF I would have to get a different viewfinder. I guess that I may be foolish to think, but if you center the square in the viewfinder, then that should be the center of your photo, even if you can not see the edges in the whole viewfinder. Jim hi jim the challenge for me is in the framing...the wider the angle the easier it becomes to have too much unintentional empty space ...so it's a matter of getting very close to contain everything....you are right about the centering but with a angle like this there is much more that will fill the space than what you center on ...as for the finder.i tried it for a week without it and it seemed ok =...but once i got the cv finder i realized how much better it was with it....i also finally got a diopter correction lens so i don't bother with glasses any more.....hope that's helpful mike Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Or rather it was designed whether you were on a film or digital camera. I guess if you buy a 24 viewfinder for the M8 then switch to the "M9" you would now need an 18 so you have spent almost the equivalent of the original Leica finder. The Leica 18mm finder has 24mm lines, so it can be used for FF or 1.3 crop. I opted for the variable 21/24/28 finder (rather large) which accommodated my other wide angle lenses. But there's no delivery nor any price yet. And the proof of that particular pudding is in the looking (i.e. through it). cbretteville Posted August 21, 2009 Share #30 Posted August 21, 2009 The SE18 is a great lens. The really sad bit is the hood cap. It falls of so easily that looking hard at it seems to be enough.
