hello everybody...

this week, a good friend of mine, gave me a leicaflex sl2, together with a summicron 50mm f/2, a 180mm elmarit-r 2.8, a macro-elmar f/4-100 together wit a bellow, together with some elpro near focusrings and some other extension tubes... everything came in the original boxes, with all certficates, bills, original manual and so on..

i am trying to learn a lot about this camera, and i found out, that this one is from 1973.. (from the serialnumber..)

is it also possible to find out the age of the lenses, when i would give the serialnumbers?? (or any other of this stuff?)

which kind of b/w film do you use?? i have now kodak tmax100 in this camera, but maybe some analog users prefer other film...

i am a complete newbie with leica, and i want to not only shoot nice pics with it, but also find out, the history of this camera...

my last question: do i need to insure this camera and this lenses and other stuff, since i looked around the internet, but prices are very different, and i don;t have any clue about what everything is worth..

i like this camera a lot, it is in mint condition, as the former owner did not use it much.. (as my friend told to me..)

a lot of questions from my side, i am sorry, but everything is very new to me, so that is why i subscribed to this forum..

thank you very much!

Alex...

Thank you very much!! i also made a mistake with the model.. it isn´t a sl2 but just a sl with the ttl-metering.. so it isn´t the original leicaflex, but the selective light model..with the metering through the lens and no mirror-lockup..(that is why i thought it was the sl2, i am not yet so familiar with the names and models, oops..) it is all so new to me, i am already busy with trying to find out a lot with google.. thx again!

thank you very much, all!! i am going to use it a lot! i have also a dslr, but i always liked shooting on 35mm film.. i am only one year busy with dslr, next to my zenit EM and mamiya sekor 1000DTL 35mm camera´s, and i still love to go out with these old but very nice and beautiful analog/camera´s...

my friend, who gave this leicaflex to me also insisted, that i would use this camera, since her father was more a collector, than a user... maybe that is why everything is so brand new...

the bellow and the macro/elmar f/4-100 are for sure never used, as she told me... i do not have a lot of experience with macro-photography, but i am very curious how things will work out! (especially on 35mm film)

it is like i am travelling back in time, everytime i go out with these old ladies, but it is for sure more fun than with a digital camera...

thanks to you all!!

greetz, alex!
