elansprint72 Posted July 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) ....... what this is! I photographed it at Oulton Park in 1975. I think it is a Willment car, perhaps Cobra based, clearly it has raced at Le Mans. Can anyone id it before I get the books out and trawl the inter-web? topoxforddoc Posted July 28, 2009 Share #5 Posted July 28, 2009 I'd say English... could it be a Ginetta ? Luigi, Much too big for a Ginetta. They've always been tiny - as small as a Lotus. Charlie
JStailey Posted July 28, 2009 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2009 I would say it is a 1964-65 Shelby Daytona Coupe. 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans (GT class win, Dan Gurney/Bob Bondurant) Shelby Daytona - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

elansprint72 Posted July 29, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted July 29, 2009 Well, I resorted to a web search in the end! It is not a Shelby Daytona coupe, but I can see why that was the way we were thinking, see the story here: Bob Olthoff and the Willment Coupe And here is a more recent photo: AC Cobra 289 'Willment' Coupe - High Resolution Image (3 of 6) There was another Willment "Cobra" coupe, built on a 427 but fitted with a Ghia body, originally from a FIAT, now that was a good looking car. I'll see if I can find a photo of it.
