Advertisement Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Hi bill, Take a look here Poll - Would you have bought an R10?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

andybarton Posted July 10, 2009 Share #23 Posted July 10, 2009 I would have done, but I have now moved on in my SLR life. The real question isn't for us old R users, with glass on the shelf waiting for an R10 to stick on the back, as we are reletively few in number. The real question, surely, should be how many new SLR users would have been attracted to the marque? All a bit moot, really
rick_dykstra Posted July 10, 2009 Author Share #24 Posted July 10, 2009 Hey Andy. You got those Leitaxes organized yet? What did you do with your DMR? You could donate it to science - for my Frankenleica project. I'll fit a 24 megapix photon drive to that sucker in no time.

As someone without R glass, if I wanted a FF SLR I'd probably have gone D3X. I think newbies might have been put off by Leica's SLR digital track record with the DMR, and its neonatal death. Arne Helme Posted July 10, 2009 Share #26 Posted July 10, 2009 Here's one more YES vote! I bought a DMR earlier this year to bridge the transition time until Leica would bring a new R-compatible DSLR on the market. I am now very disappointed that there will be no R10. Moving up to S2 is not an option for me. Regards, -- Arne Zenfolio | Arne Helme Photography

Guest BigSplash Posted July 10, 2009 Share #28 Posted July 10, 2009 Yes...provided that it was of size equivalent to Leicaflex SL (or R3) and not a heavy bulky item like R9.....I loved the quality of R9 but could not imagine taking it very far from the boot of my car with a few lenses. Also I would want a system price with say 3 or 4 sensible "R" lenses (f1.4 to f2.0) that was below £20K. ...and a commitment at extra cost to a complete system offering, including bellows and closeup lenses

A rather heavy lens.

stuny Posted July 10, 2009 Share #32 Posted July 10, 2009 Rick - Very amusing camera bag idea. It's clear from the species that you've spent a lot of time in Oz, and your photos are stunning.
troyfreund Posted July 10, 2009 Share #33 Posted July 10, 2009 Yes, I would have tried to get one. Love my DMRs (most of the time) and was looking forward to using my 19mm Elmarit at it's full view (though I have gotten quite used to and appreciative of my Leica SLR "rangefinder"-view). rsh Posted July 10, 2009 Share #36 Posted July 10, 2009 Yes. I, most likely, will not look at the S2 for cost reasons. Over the years, I have put together a terrific set of Leica Reflex lenses that work for me. To be able to have used them on an R10 would have been a real bonus. I was lucky enough to find a new DMR in early Spring of 2008. It is not fast, it is not perfect but in the end, I get the images I want with little or no post processing. I can only imagine how the R10 would benefit great photographers like Doug Herr and many more of you that contribute to this forum. I will keep what I have, use it for as long as I can, knowing that an era has passed.

All a bit moot, really Yes, moot now, but the real question is why were there so few R users? My speculative answer is because Leica didn't market a DSLR. The DMR was novel, takes great pictures, but never very practical in my mind. Instead of developing an S2...well. it's all history now.
sdai Posted July 10, 2009 Share #39 Posted July 10, 2009 Please add 1 or may be 2 for me, Stefan Daniel says the R10 would cost 6000-7000 euros at the Hessenpark meeting, correct? That's a great price when compared to the M8(.2) (and what it can do).
andybarton Posted July 10, 2009 Share #40 Posted July 10, 2009 No. Herr Daniel said that the R10 has been cancelled. I think that's the whole point of this thread
