lct Posted November 9, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 9, 2006 We'll know officially that banding will be fixed by the last (1.07?) or a next firmware update and that shooting MIB will require IR filters, want to bet?

robsteve Posted November 9, 2006 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2006 Allan: The Leica newsletter system seems to be broken. I signed up for it five or six hours ago and have not gotten the confirmation email where you get a link to a web page to confirm your subscription. Has anybody succesfully subscribed. Anybody else finding this site (http://www.leica-camera-user.com) slow?

hyper67 Posted November 9, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 9, 2006 I have aslo tried to subscribe but have not recieved anything yet. And yes leica site painfully slow-everything seems to be going wrong over there!
jelderfield Posted November 9, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 9, 2006 Same for me. No email back. They are probably getting slammed by people trying to sign up to find out what they have to say about the camera. LADP Posted November 9, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 9, 2006 Thank you Allan for the heads up and the link. I just filled out the form and submitted it, so hopefully the confirmation email will come at some point.
msr Posted November 9, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 9, 2006 I have just had a reply from Cristian Erhardt of Leica USA that Leica (Germany) will have a response on Monday & that they are working on solutions. It is now just a matter of being patient & letting them get on with the fix.
mat_mcdermott Posted November 9, 2006 Share #12 Posted November 9, 2006 I subscribed today as well and also have not received a reply. I also haven't received a reply from Leica USA service to an email I sent a couple of days ago.
LADP Posted November 9, 2006 Share #13 Posted November 9, 2006 Anybody else finding this site (http://www.leica-camera-user.com) slow? Yes, I've noticed it's quite slow since sometime yesterday, and there have been occasional instances when for up to a few minutes it wasn't available at all. abrewer Posted November 9, 2006 Author Share #16 Posted November 9, 2006 Friends, while Klaus Dieter checks on what is wrong with the activation emails you should have received, I'll tell you that I've received the newsletter already and (unfortunately) there's nothing specific to the concerns we've all seen aired here in this issue. All I found was a link to Leica USA's M8 webpage and a pdf on DNG format. I still have hope they might send a supplement yet today or tomorrow in this regard. Thanks. harmsr Posted November 10, 2006 Share #17 Posted November 10, 2006 Allan, I also tried to sign up today with two different emails and have not gotten any confirmation email from Leica. Thanks for the heads up. Let us hope that they say the right things. I am waiting to here this announcement prior to returning the camera and 28 cron. John Maio Posted November 10, 2006 Share #18 Posted November 10, 2006 I got the November 9th newsletter. It says nothing about any M8 issues. It does say there are "performance proofs" posted on the Leica M8 site, but when I tried to view them, nothing happened.
abrewer Posted November 10, 2006 Author Share #19 Posted November 10, 2006 Hi Ray. Hi John. Try turning off your pop-up blocker. They're downloads of a picture of an eagle. They are there. Thanks. Allan
John Maio Posted November 10, 2006 Share #20 Posted November 10, 2006 Thanks Allan - that was the problem. I was anxious to see the eagle captured by an M8 - - only to see it was a statue - - kinda says it all.
