That's a very pretty endoscope but it would seem to be a little uncomfortable for the patient. I hope that they at least remove the viewfinder and rangefinder before use <shudder>. :D

Funny advertisement... I wonder if Leica co. has nothing to say about displaying so squarely their name in an ad... I think there isn't anymore any relation between the two companies (after the last batch of Noctiluxes... ;))

And the statement that ELCAN "was there at the invention of 35 mm photography" is someway strange...

It is not their name :) it is Leica Geosystems one......

And perhaps Elcan has paid before.....

And 160 years develloping at "Elcan" ;)

160 years before Midland was rain forest :)

Splitting Leica into three different companies, making diversification much more difficult was the big mistake IMO. The production site in Canada is only interesting for special American markets, which won't buy from Wetzlar (one of the intentions of their facility in Midland).

Lens-manufacturing to the highest standards was always done in Wetzlar/Solms (when the glass elements didn't contain certain materials...).

The ad makes perfect sense. ELCAN's heritage is Ernst Leitz. ELCAN is short for E. Leitz Canada. The company continues to make brilliant, cutting edge optics. The indeed trading on their heritage, which is fine.
