David Monkhouse Posted April 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 29, 2009 so you were a good distance away. colour for me and an excellent shot. pleased you liked "the bluebell wood". the weather has to be just right on a very small window and in 2007 and 2008 it was dull and overcast... maurometallo Posted April 29, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 29, 2009 Fantastic photo, Mike! I would go for the B/W version, but only for a matter of personal taste...
biglouis Posted April 29, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 29, 2009 Mike Excellent capture. I think I prefer the colour because we can see the subtle colours of the leopard skin and spots. LouisB
JLV Posted April 29, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 29, 2009 Mike, Stunning shot. (colour for me) How far from this Kittie were you? All the best, Jean-Luc
stuny Posted April 29, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mike - Both are superb in every way, but i agree with Big that the subtlety of the color for this image makes it edge out the B&W.
azzo Posted April 29, 2009 Share #8 Posted April 29, 2009 MIKE, Both work nicely. Just a matter of taste IMHO. Lovely catch of this beautiful creature.
Michael Hiles Posted April 30, 2009 Share #9 Posted April 30, 2009 Lovely pictures. I think I like the colours because it is so muted. And I am happy to see a picture from the 125mm Hektor. I have one, and I like it lots.
michali Posted April 30, 2009 Author Share #10 Posted April 30, 2009 David, David, Mauro, Louis, Jean-Luc, Stuart, Ivan & Michael- Thanks for taking the time to comment it's always appreciated. The sun had just set, I was sitting in the Land Rover looking at something else and he suddenly popped up out of the grass 8 or 9 meters in front of me. I knew he was around because I had heard him "coughing".

luigi bertolotti Posted May 3, 2009 Share #13 Posted May 3, 2009 Also for me the BW is the preferred : outstanding effect of cat "sproutimg" from the grass; and nice to see a venerable Hektor used so finely.

Also for me the BW is the preferred : outstanding effect of cat "sproutimg" from the grass; and nice to see a venerable Hektor used so finely. roguewave Posted May 4, 2009 Share #17 Posted May 4, 2009 Mike, glad you escaped. He doesn't look all that interested in company, except if he had you for lunch.
michali Posted May 5, 2009 Author Share #18 Posted May 5, 2009 Mike, glad you escaped. He doesn't look all that interested in company, except if he had you for lunch. Ben- Thank you. You're absolutely right. Leopards are my favorite animal to photograph in the wild, along with elephants. I love these cats, solitary, elusive, very smart, unpredictable and moody. You will only see a leopard if it wants you to see it.
leicanut2 Posted May 5, 2009 Share #19 Posted May 5, 2009 Very Nice I like it as B&W. Cheers Jan
