slabwax Posted April 17, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All I've just ordered my first Leica. My Digilux 2 should be here soon. I went on line to find a 69mm U.V. filter. These things are more rare then hens teeth. I found a used Heliopan filter. Are these any good? I've never heard of them but that does not mean anything. Also what is the largest SD card the camera can use? Thanks for any info Dean

gabriel Posted April 17, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2009 Heliopan are one of the only manufacturers to make 69mm filters. They are a very old established German filter manufacturer and make ranges of filters for professional use. Their products are of the highest quality. you can order new from their stockists fotofilterversand.de - Spezialversand fr Fotofilter, Adapterringe und Zubehr in Germany, they will ship. slabwax Posted April 17, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted April 17, 2009 Thanks for the replies. I've been eyeing this camera for years now. I'm exited to finally be getting one. It was this or a new Nikon D90. The Nikon can wait. The close up lens seems very pricey is there a less expensive option that doesn't suck too bad? Thanks Dean

Thanks Dean Yes- the Canon D500 diopter with a 69-77 step-up ring (try Heavystar for the step-up ring.) Come to think of it, I might consider selling mine, if I had any idea of what price to ask. (note, if I do sell it through the forum I will put it in B&S or will make a donation equal to the cost of a B&S ad...)
farnz Posted April 17, 2009 Share #7 Posted April 17, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) ... The close up lens seems very pricey is there a less expensive option that doesn't suck too bad? Dean, Welcome to the forum! Panasonic produced a close-up lens for the D2's sister camera the DMC-LC1, which fits the D2 as well. From memory it was called as the DMW-LC69 and was significantly cheaper than the Elpro-D and performed very well. Pete.
slabwax Posted April 17, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted April 17, 2009 How does the Panasonic copy hold up compared to the leica or the Canon? The prices much better on the Panasonic. Dean
elgenper Posted April 17, 2009 Share #9 Posted April 17, 2009 How does the Panasonic copy hold up compared to the leica or the Canon? The prices much better on the Panasonic. The Panasonic one was a single element, while both the Leica (Elpro) and the Canon are achromats. That´s a significant difference in image quality; unfortunately also in weight, thickness and cost...
