Finnkare Posted April 16, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could anyone give me a hint where to find a hood for the Hektor 135/4.5? I don't know what the original one looks like, but I'm sure I could settle with a working non-original one...
Advertisement Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hi Finnkare, Take a look here A hood for the Hektor 135/4,5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
giordano Posted April 16, 2009 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2009 If it's a screw-mount lens (taking 36mm clamp-on accessories), the usual hood is code-named FIKUS. It's a neat telescopic affair that also fits 5cm and 9cm lenses with the same size front rim. The bayonet-mount Hektor takes 39mm screw-in filters and 42mm clip-on hoods, the latter code-named IUFOO or 12575 or 12575N. These hoods are fairly easy to find at dealers that specialise in old Leica stuff or on the internet.
Finnkare Posted April 16, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted April 16, 2009 It's a screw mount one. The filter thread is "the normal" 39/0,5. That would seem a bit controversial to your advice, giordano, since it seems to fit both the descriptions...
tobey bilek Posted April 30, 2009 Share #4 Posted April 30, 2009 There are two kinds of screw 135, the later being 39 .05 and it looks like the chrome bayonet model. IUFOO or the other ones will fit. 50/90/135 model only goes on the older 36mm 135 Hector which is the more common 135 screw. It is a very good lens for close work and I use mine adapted to a Nikon D700 + bellows.
rickp13 Posted April 30, 2009 Share #5 Posted April 30, 2009 i was impatient, and ended up with a screw-in hood from heavystar, which came with a cap. good luck rick Welcome, dear visitor! Finnkare Posted May 1, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted May 1, 2009 ^ My lens looks the same, with the removable lenses for visoflex. I haven't figured out, where would the bayonet hood attach... rickp13, what did you mean by being impatient? What would have been a better choice? The IUFOO/12575 hood for the later lenses doesn't have a bayonet fitting. It attaches to the groove around the outside of the front of the lens (it's visible in rickp13's photo). Inside the hood there are four little metal fingers that engage in the groove; the two buttons on the outside of the hood retract the fingers so you can attach or detach the hood. This is the same system as on many other Leica lenses from the 1950s to about the 1990s.
rickp13 Posted May 1, 2009 Share #8 Posted May 1, 2009 hello finkare by "impatient", i meant that i didn't take the time (or $) to look for the correct leica lens hood for this lens. i just ordered a suitable OEM hood as shown. for my purposes, the inexpensive hood worked effectively. if you have the time, interest (and $), you may want to set up an international search on ebay or other for the leica name or part number and wait for one to be offered. greetings from hamburg rick
luigi bertolotti Posted May 1, 2009 Share #9 Posted May 1, 2009 In the Historical section have been just posted a number of pics of old 3rd parties meters of the '30s... some of them marked "Leica" or "for Leica" : funny to see that nowadays there are still vendors who make accessories with the same engravings... ... after all, OUR brand is still considered an interesting target market...
