lct Posted April 22, 2009 Share #22 Posted April 22, 2009 The G1 crop means that it's only really useful if you enjoy using long lenses Or you like wide DoF.
jaapv Posted April 22, 2009 Share #23 Posted April 22, 2009 Any link to this eventually, Jaap? Phew- I read it a few weeks back- it was a reliable source - but my memory about exactly where fails me, sorry....
andybarton Posted April 22, 2009 Share #24 Posted April 22, 2009 Or you like wide DoF. Not very "Leica" is it? Hmm... I wonder why Leica haven't jumped on this bandwagon... Nope. Can't think. Answers on a postcard, as usual, please.
lct Posted April 22, 2009 Share #25 Posted April 22, 2009 Not very "Leica" is it?... To say the least. Funny that the G1 may be considered the M's successor. If people like wide DoF why don't they buy small sensor cameras instead. Our D1 & LC5 were quite good at that weren't they.
wildlightphoto Posted April 23, 2009 Share #26 Posted April 23, 2009 Yes, but the crop would be using the "sweet" centre of the lens... My lenses are sweet into the corners. That's why I was willing to spend the big bucks on them.

I'm with you! That's why I opted to use them on a Canon 1DS-MkII (and now, MkIII) instead of getting a DMR. (Of course I tried a DMR...nice files up to ISO 400, just as good as the MK-II but can't touch the Mk-III). I truly hope the R10 has a viewfinder or screen optimized for manual focus, and that R-mount lenses aren't crippled by the need for an uncoupled adapter, and of course that it's full frame. I'm hanging on to my R lenses with those hopes.
