topoxforddoc Posted April 4, 2009 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) .. or should it be Bread(van) on the Line? Having seen Neil's shot of the Breadvan at Goodwood, I thought I would post my picture of the Breadvan at Goodwood too. Taken at the Revival last year. Thanks for looking. USA road racer Posted April 7, 2009 Share #9 Posted April 7, 2009 Wasn't that an attempt by a privateer to make the GTO more aerodynamic? My memory isn't so sharp after so many years have passed.

USA road racer Posted April 8, 2009 Share #11 Posted April 8, 2009 Thanks for posting that link, Charlie! That really took me back a few years. I always have loved the GTO. I actually got to ride in one in Cleveland, Ohio when I was working for an Import Auto parts business. A guy had one driven by Inness Ireland in the 1963 Sebring12 hour race ON THE STREET!! Took me for a 6 mile ride that I'll never forget. Then I showed him the C-Type Jaguar chassis #17 that Stirling Moss ran at Sebring that was stored in the back room next to an original Cord and 2 V-16 Cadillacs! Wish I could have afforded the Ferrari. He paid $6K USD for it in 1970!!!
topoxforddoc Posted April 8, 2009 Author Share #12 Posted April 8, 2009 6k USD! At least Enzo didn't break it up, like he did with most of his racing cars after they had finished racing. I'll see if your C type was running at Goodwood as well. There were a few and I wouldn't be surprised of the very same car was there. I'll do some digging. If it was at Goodwood, I'll see if I can post you a pic for old times sake! Best wishes, Charlie
elansprint72 Posted April 8, 2009 Share #13 Posted April 8, 2009 Nice shots, Charlie. As I posted on Neil's thread, this car is something of an old friend; it kicked around the Club racing scene in the 70's, a regular at Oulton Park, driven by Kim Mather. It was probably worth 5k GBP max in those days. The cars it used to race against were GT40s and other old bangers like 250 SWBs, they were "just old cars" back then. neila Posted April 14, 2009 Share #15 Posted April 14, 2009 Charlie, it looks like you and I were standing in exactly the same spot for the Revival. Great panning shot - I have been really trying to get that technique right, it's difficult! I really like your shot very much. Here's an attempt and a close up of that extraordinary rear. Charlie Hi Charlie I'll be there Saturday and Sunday - I'll have the M8 with me (rather than wearing a carnation and carrying the FT) and am 6'2" grey hair, rather dashing. I might have made the last bit up.
