jmr Posted October 25, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2006 Nat, very nice - I like the tones and the separation from the background.
Guest rubidium Posted October 25, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 25, 2006 Lovely choice for depth of focus. Also, B&W serves this image very well.
ddp Posted October 25, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 25, 2006 Lots going on here....I really like the composition and the lighting. Great scan too!
Overgaard Posted October 25, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 25, 2006 Technically it's pefect. But I find that her 'hair action' does not align with the classic and stable background. Her in herself in say a studio would be fun. But on that background she should be classic too. The shadowline from sun on her is also not so good. Probably something she will notice herself and make her - I would suspect - not really want to use the picture. Women tend to want to be perfect. Ahm... Or at least look perfect. petert531 Posted October 25, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 25, 2006 Agree on the hair, but maybe that's the charm here.... One thing else to consider. Make sure both hands are visible in the shot. It's not too bad here, but in many cases people look like they have lost a hand to a terrible accident. Also encourage your models to 'soften' the hands and the arms, no stress, as the flexing makes the picture look unnatural and in many cases adds the appearance of 20 lbs Peter
Sandokan Posted October 25, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 25, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also like everything except the wind in the hair (blowing the other way would be just perfect)
pemayeux Posted October 25, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 25, 2006 I think it is absolutely stunning. I like everything about the shot. The scanning is superb!
asimmetrix Posted October 26, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted October 26, 2006 Thanks to all for the comments. Some other info... The flat scanner is an old entry level model from Canon. The photo is printing on Ilford Multigrade FB with a Leitz Focomat V35. The FP4+ film was processed in two baths Pyrocatechol developer. Nat

robert_parker Posted October 26, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 26, 2006 I'm not sure about the hair but you've extracted a really superb range of tones and textures from FP4 and your scanner. Congratulations - look forward to seeing some more

pemayeux Posted October 26, 2006 Share #13 Posted October 26, 2006 I've noticed a couple of comments about the hair, but I think that is one of the things I like about this photo. The hair blowing in the wind adds a bit of mystery.
martinop Posted October 26, 2006 Share #14 Posted October 26, 2006 I also like the impact of the blowing hair on the composition.
