ddp Posted October 25, 2006 Share #21 Posted October 25, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey - that Morgan has the wrong type of wheels on it! I always had this delusional idea that British pubs were dark, with low ceilings and roaring fires...this was dashed watching rugby a few time sin various spots in London. Perhaps a small castle would be a better place to hole up! Nice link William.
Advertisement Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Hi ddp, Take a look here My little Morgan thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Bernd Banken Posted October 25, 2006 Share #22 Posted October 25, 2006 Two years ago my wife and I visited our son at the Warwick University. At that time we went to Gr. Malvern to visit the Bricks of Morgan:D In front of the premisis a contest was going on: Whos elbow is the closest to the macadam? The Caterham S7 driver clearly was the winner:D Cheers Bernd Welcome, dear visitor! elansprint72 Posted October 25, 2006 Share #23 Posted October 25, 2006 Ron, What a shame that Olde English yokel walked in front of the car, you should have given him a few pence and asked him to move along. Pete.
Rona!d Posted October 25, 2006 Author Share #24 Posted October 25, 2006 Pete, I tried, but that guy turned out to be a camouflaged american yokel. And as you know, they don´t know cash and i was not willing to give him my whole credit card But there is a trick how you can move them out of the scenery - simply explain them your camera and ask them to take a photo of you. As you can see, it works fine. Tomorrow you´ll see Mr Lamb with his friend Mr. Morgan. Welcome, dear visitor! stunsworth Posted October 25, 2006 Share #25 Posted October 25, 2006 Hi Ron, I look forward to the others in the series, but I have to say that the shots here aren't the best you posted IMHO. I hate to sound really, really negative, but many of these have a 'snapshot' quality to them. I know I've seen better in the past, that's why I want to see the rest of the series. Rona!d Posted October 25, 2006 Author Share #26 Posted October 25, 2006 Steve, that´s the point, this thread is my snapshot-thread. No photo will have any other quality than snapshot. So if you are keen on "quality photography", please don´t follow this album. As i wrote in my very first posting in this thread: Ok boys (and ladies), this will be my little album with snapshots from the England trip in the oldfashioned car ... That was the idea. Don´t know if it bothers anybody, in case let me know and i stop posting this stuff.

stunsworth Posted October 25, 2006 Share #28 Posted October 25, 2006 Ron, keep posting them. Since we both agree they're snapshots we don't have anything to really disagree about :-) I really look forward to looking at the 'proper' photographs by the way. I've been impressed by a lot of what you've posted in the past.
Rona!d Posted October 25, 2006 Author Share #29 Posted October 25, 2006 ... because Lambs have longer arms to reach the tasty sandwiches (you see William Lamb´s left hand feeding the dog under the desk? ) Welcome, dear visitor! billh Posted October 26, 2006 Share #30 Posted October 26, 2006 Great shots! Of course my favorite has to be William and the dog.
lambroving Posted October 26, 2006 Share #31 Posted October 26, 2006 Hey - that Morgan has the wrong type of wheels on it! I always had this delusional idea that British pubs were dark, with low ceilings and roaring fires...this was dashed watching rugby a few time sin various spots in London. Perhaps a small castle would be a better place to hole up! Nice link William. Dan, I'll explain on Sunday, but I hire a little narrow-bodied 4/4, 4-cyl. when I'm over there. 99p/litre last July! These little cars have bicycle tires... 165/85SR15's, so the wires look properly proportioned and "vintage". Glad I don't have to clean them. If I COULD afford a Plus 8 rental over there, I'd probably be arrested. A friend of mine gave Ron a ride to the pub one evening in an older Plus 8. That had Ron asking about used car prices... lambroving Posted October 26, 2006 Share #33 Posted October 26, 2006 Great shots! Of course my favorite has to be William and the dog. Nice snaps. I was hardly aware he took them. Ron must tell you about these Morgan/Land Rover friends of mine and what they showed him of the area.
earleygallery Posted October 26, 2006 Share #34 Posted October 26, 2006 Saw the landlord and asked him to open the gate so that we could put the hood up. No go... Ron and I thought about just leaving the car in the drive. Ah, nice to know the good old fashioned British service standards are still being maintianed! Far too many places now try to please their customers IMO Nice shots Ron.
abrewer Posted October 26, 2006 Share #35 Posted October 26, 2006 ...Americans think that we all live in stone cottages, drive round in 1950s Jaguars, call our friends by their surnames, have hospitals run by nurses who still wear caps, and have hotels run by Basil Fawlty types... You...mean.... You mean you DON'T!!! EEEEK!! Just kiddin'.... I have noted that Mrs. Bucket rides in a Rover of some sort.... I like the shots Ron. They have a casual air about them that is unusual given how masterfully-done your photos are in general. Hell, all I know how to take is a snapshot! What's wrong with that??? And the dog reminds me of William's wonderful shot of the Springer (I think) he took in Annapolis a while back. IIRC that dog was smiling too! Thanks. Rona!d Posted October 27, 2006 Author Share #36 Posted October 27, 2006 Good morning forum, here comes Charles Morgan with William. Accidently I had the 15mm (!!!) Heliar on the cam because i did some shots of the hundreds of Moggies on the meadow before that smalltalk. Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted October 27, 2006 Author Share #37 Posted October 27, 2006 OK, after this "color-shock" something to cool down (imho not as bad as my snapshots before). The Howard Arms in Ilmington is really recommendable ("Dining pub of the year" in 05). Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted October 30, 2006 Share #39 Posted October 30, 2006 I have just followed the link to The Wheatsheaf Inn. That is not what I would call a "pub" and their claim to be "England's Finest Pub" is just preposterous. It's clearly a restaurant that sells some beer. Ron - did you know the people in that blue car? They seem to be following you around all week. We are still having days like that, btw - our primroses are all coming into bloom in the garden. Spring follows on directly from Summer these days - Autumn and Winter don't get a look in.
Rona!d Posted October 30, 2006 Author Share #40 Posted October 30, 2006 Andy, a lot of pubs seems to be converted into "restaurant-pubs". But I´ve also seen the classic ones with very basic menus. The guys with the other Morgans i posted (two different ones) joined us on two days through the cotswoulds. Ron
