MMMM not many clues

I don't think the Forbiden city was open to the public in that period (though not sure) but let's stay in Beijing, Not sure the Lama temple was open either, so how about the Confucius Temple, anyway one of the three mentionned unless only one answer per post, in that case Confucius !

Dates already mentionned.

I have to be away for a few days, so won't be able to respond. Don't want to slow things up, so I award it to Gaal. He was almost there.

It was taken in the Forbidden City, in 1979. People still wore very subdued clothes. Tourism hadn't really appeared then, but one could get in. Westerners were viewed as a curiousity, but people were friendly (if shy).

I took this picture with a IIIG (and 50mm summicron), my only camera in those days. It's always been a favorite of mine (the picture, that is).

Cheers, Doug

Thank you Doug,

I was so sure the Forbiden City, was forbiden even under Mao's rule, that I automatically ruled it out.

So here we go

It is a castle and has a name

Good luck to all

Hi Michael,

True, it has a scottish feeling, I thing the stones and color look like a plaid pattern.

But is is not Scotland.

And to be very respectful to some of our friends living on that big and beautiful Island, I would not dare say: "But at least Michael, you did hit the right continent". :)

I would be surprised if it was Scotland, the style just isn't right and we usually use stone and not many bricks.

Hmm - England, perhaps?

Just need to cross the channel !

The country borders France

And yes some of us considers the channel to include part od the North sea as well, all depends where you live.

Same as continents, some consider Amerca as one, other divide it in 2.

But you are getting closer.

So if it is tuesday it has to be :

It is not the house of Baon Empain, though it is the house of a Belgian man, who was awarded a title froma kong from Egypt. And his time was around the Suez canal opening.

And as I see not many of you are getting involved, et me tell you that the castle is about 40 Km from Brussels.

I will not tell you yet, if it belongs to the Flemish or the Wallon's side.
