luigi bertolotti Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1363 Posted June 4, 2009 Cuba, I'd say.. but the place is a little difficult to catch...
jaapv Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1364 Posted June 4, 2009 Hemingway? One of the Swahili islands? Pemba?
vertekijker Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1365 Posted June 4, 2009 Jan, could it be in Florida? This is a fun one, but a bit hard! I hope you don't need the name of the dog as well? ----------- Frans
Michael Hiles Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1366 Posted June 4, 2009 Wild guess - Key West, Florida?
jaapv Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1367 Posted June 4, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, if it is Florida I would think Fort Myers.
stuny Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1368 Posted June 4, 2009 Hemmingway spent a great deal of time in Key West, but this is not Key West. Looks more like Cuba where he also spent a great deal of time, but that was already guessed.
doubice Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1369 Posted June 4, 2009 Sorry, it is not Florida, or Cuba. Even though Hemingway has never visited this particular locale, it is very close to both and he has visited this country. Frans, I will give away the name of the dog: it is Chico..... vertekijker Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1370 Posted June 4, 2009 Mexico? Yucatan? Jan, the dog looks like a Chico! ---------------- Frans
doubice Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1371 Posted June 4, 2009 Mexico? Yucatan?---------------- Frans Mexico - yes! The 'Superior' beer sign should have given it away to those who know Mexican beer.... Yucatan - pretty close. Give you a hint.... it is not on the actual Yucatan peninsula but part of the Quintana Roo state. Good luck, Jan
vertekijker Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1372 Posted June 4, 2009 Cozumel? F
doubice Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1373 Posted June 4, 2009 Cozumel? F I was expecting that answer - you're getting closer.... This island is even smaller than Cozumel. No more hints...... Good luck, Jan
vertekijker Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1374 Posted June 4, 2009 Isla Mujeres... F
doubice Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1375 Posted June 4, 2009 Isla Mujeres...F Was Google your friend? This island has no MacDonalds, no Pizza Hut, no Kentucky Chickens, no Burger Kings etc. etc. Just a small fishing village, a few hotels, a wonderful beach and peace and quiet. DON'T TELL ANYBODY! Unfortunately, this is what Cozumel used to be 20 years ago, too..... Fotunately, there is another, even smaller island on the north side of the Yucatan peninsula and my lips are sealed.... Congratulation - it is Frans' turn. Best, Jan
vertekijker Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1376 Posted June 4, 2009 I was going to admit that I used Google - I have only been in the north-western part of Mexico. But even with Google, it wasn't that easy... Thank you for the interesting notes about the place. Makes me want to visit some day. I'll look for something to post now. ----------- Frans

Alan Philpotts Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1378 Posted June 4, 2009 A very nice picture Frans. I don't know where it is, but I think the statue is by Barry Flanagan. Regards Alan
vertekijker Posted June 4, 2009 Share #1379 Posted June 4, 2009 You got the sculptor right, Alan! I give you half the prize! And thank you for the compliment, it is much appreciated. ---------------- Frans
doubice Posted June 5, 2009 Share #1380 Posted June 5, 2009 Yes, I saw some of Flanagan's sculptures in New York City many years ago but have no idea where this is. Superb shot by the way... This is tougher than my 'Bar Hemingway' - I think we need a few hints.... Best, Jan
