mich Posted October 23, 2018 Share #18225 Posted October 23, 2018 I took a ride on this tramway in the seventies, it had no rotating cabin back then. As I don't have any suitable images at the moment, I won't solve it. 😛
Alex C Posted October 23, 2018 Share #18226 Posted October 23, 2018 Awe, funny - but nice hint for whoever feels up to the task.
Alex C Posted October 24, 2018 Share #18227 Posted October 24, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you look closely, down in the valley there are rows of white structures, can anyone take a guess what those are?
stuny Posted October 24, 2018 Share #18228 Posted October 24, 2018 The structures are wind turbines at a "wind farm." I recall seeing it near Palm Strings on our way to and from Joshua Tree National Park, suggesting this is the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
Alex C Posted October 24, 2018 Share #18229 Posted October 24, 2018 Yes!😊 It is a very windy desert valley between the mountain we are on and the “little” mountain range we see in the distance. What city might that be down there?
stuny Posted October 24, 2018 Share #18230 Posted October 24, 2018 I would guess Palm Springs
Alex C Posted October 24, 2018 Share #18231 Posted October 24, 2018 That is correct! Your turn. I took that photo from the Palm Springs aerial tramway (“the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world”), which takes you near the San Jacinto Peak (10,834 ft/3,302 m), from the Sonoran desert to alpine forest. You see the Coachella Valley and the San Bernardino mountain chain further in the distance. The San Gorgonio Pass between these two mountain chains, where the wind farm is located, acts like a funnel and is one of the windiest places in North America. stuny Posted October 25, 2018 Share #18232 Posted October 25, 2018 Thank you, Alex. We were astonished just how huge that wind farm was. Let's try this one. Where is our friend Sylasak standing? stuny Posted October 26, 2018 Share #18240 Posted October 26, 2018 There are a number of these artifacts, most of which are carved from limestone. As you might surmise by looking at our guide, 'Sak, we are in Asia.
