Sicily? Wasn't the Kingdom of the Two Sicilys run by the Bourbons?

You're right, Michael: Sicily was from time to time under Spanish/ Bourbon rule. And this is Sicily

Hello Michael,

Different people. Different times.

Don't forget there were even Vikings to consider at other times.

And don't forget the Greeks. Etc.

Best Regards,

Michael

And you're right too, Michael: these are not Vikings. But at least one of them may be Greek

Perhaps a rear view will help someone get a more precise location...

Quite right Michael: Messina it is.

We went to Sicily for the first time last September (took a train from Rome to Messina: recommended), and liked it so much we were back there before the end of March.

With one or two caveats concerning car hire and the state of the roads I'd highly recommend Sicily, especially the Baroque towns of the South East, and mighty Etna. And Easter there is very interesting

Over to you, now...

Jim

This will likely be easy for someone. Instead of my first inclination - my wife’s garden - this might be a little less obscure. We can eliminate Nepal and Lapland (I like to be helpful). Ideally you can tell me the country, city, and even the building.

Good enough - it is Florence. Not quite the Piazza della Signoria but close - we are on the long street just outside the Uffizi museum. This is one of the "living statues" that dress all in white and stand stock still, or move only occasionally and then very slowly. They dress as famous Italians (e.g. Leonardo etc.)

All yours, Jim.

Aha... the mystery of monochrome! I reckon I'd have got the Uffizi had you shot it in its full dour, bureaucratic colours  :)

Thanks Michael: here's the next one... L'heure bleu
