spylaw4 Posted January 29, 2009 Author Share #21 Posted January 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looks like those of us coming on Sunday will need to wrap up warm - the forecast is for very cold weather, although should be dry. See you all in the Chandos - likely to be upstairs.

gravastar Posted January 30, 2009 Share #23 Posted January 30, 2009 Any further views on 12 noon or 12:30 for the meet up in the Chandos? Considering that we will probably eat maybe 12 noon might be a better time. Not so crowded in the pub as later and more time for the events afterwards. Bob. As there's been no comment (so far) I'm assuming 12:30 but it's not critical - I"ll be in Gerrard Street earlier to see what's going on. farnz Posted January 30, 2009 Share #25 Posted January 30, 2009 I'm okay with either time (although I realise that's not very helpful ) Snow-shoes packed, huskies fed, watered and sledded. Pete.
farnz Posted January 30, 2009 Share #26 Posted January 30, 2009 For everyone who's coming along please note that there are a lot of engineering works on the tube this weekend affecting parts of the following lines: Bakerloo Circle District Hammersmith & City Jubilee Metropolitan Victoria For more detail please click here. ejd Posted January 30, 2009 Share #27 Posted January 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sounds good fun, and it would be great to meet with you all on Sunday, but I may give this one a miss. I remember tightly packed crowds on a previous occasion. Too many people! Swept around the Chinatown area in a dense tide of people. If time permits, I might look for you all in the Chandos. I look forward to seeing the pics. All the best, John
spylaw4 Posted January 31, 2009 Author Share #28 Posted January 31, 2009 Just a heads-up. Just back home from Chinatown - food shopping. The Dragons were visiting and "blessing" the shops/restaurants this afternoon. So possibly not tomorrow before/during the main event in Trafalgar Sq. although the website would seem to indicate otherwise. Not to say there won't be other things going on. biglouis Posted January 31, 2009 Share #29 Posted January 31, 2009 Brian et al Apologies but I will not now be able to get to the meet tomorrow. Hope you have a good time and I look forward to seeing you all at a future date. LouisB

Last year I just gave up and came home, you end up just being swept along and impossible to stop and compose anything.

spylaw4 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Share #32 Posted February 1, 2009 Robert - try to park so that you can use the Central or Picadilly Lines - you may be able to park in the new Westfield Shopping Centre at Shepherd's Bush and take the Central line from there to Tottenham Court Road. robert_parker Posted February 1, 2009 Share #33 Posted February 1, 2009 Hello Everyone Sorry - due to a last minute hitch at this end I've not had chance to drive down - hope everyone has a good day and enjoy's photographing the Dragons
spylaw4 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Share #34 Posted February 1, 2009 Thanks for that Robert - sorry you could not make it. A small and chilled-out gathering met in the Chandos. Self, Ivor, Pete and Bob. Photos will doubtless appear in due course.
gravastar Posted February 7, 2009 Share #35 Posted February 7, 2009 Well, it was bitterly cold and and just too many densely packed people for easy photography. It was a shame people didn't stand back from the Dragons as they went round "blessing" the shops. I only managed to grab one shot with the 21mm by holding the camera above my head. At one point I was pushed and fell backwards but came to no harm since the people behind held me upright, you couldn't fall! Bob. Welcome, dear visitor! biglouis Posted February 7, 2009 Share #37 Posted February 7, 2009 Bob Lovely pictures... I agree with Andy about the balloons. I'm sorry I couldn't make it, although given the description of the crowds I am afraid I probably wouldn't have been able to cope with that. spylaw4 Posted February 7, 2009 Author Share #38 Posted February 7, 2009 Balloons - absolutely terrific shot Bob. Well seen and executed! This reminds me to post my modest offering from the day. These shot around Gerrard Street before we all met up. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
