Africa is full of young pilots racking up their flying hours by flying air taxis, being paid next to nothing, but having bags of fun. This Austrian guy had finished his (6 weeks!) training in South Africa a few months before and was hoping for a spot with Austrian Aitlines in a couple of years time. Good pilot too...M8, CV 15

Hi Jaap,

Wonderful image. These youngsters flying around all over the place is very common with us here in Africa. The charter companies make plenty of use of these guys - they really do get paid next to nothing, but are able to build up hours. I live on one of the main approaches to Eros Airport in the middle of Windhoek, and have these guys fly over all the time.

Looks like a twin engine Piper or Beechcraft if I look at this image more closely. It was quite a site the other day when one of only two flying DC6's in the world went over. This aircraft belongs to Namibia Commercial Aviation and operate historical flights with this plane.

Regards

Andreas
