leicamr Posted October 14, 2009 Share #41 Posted October 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just love the speed of operation of the M7 over my M6's. Exposure is excellent on slide film. Has anybody mentioned that the M7 shutter is quieter on slower shutter speeds than a mechanical M? Because it doesn't have a mechanical escapement. Sweet! I must give my DMR's a rest and use my M7 again. Mark

johnwolf Posted October 14, 2009 Share #42 Posted October 14, 2009 ...- I still have the old viewfinder M7, which is flare prone. You need to make sure you get the latest model, which, I understand, has the low flare finder introduced with the MP.... How would one identify models with the newer viewfinder? Thanks. -- John
Guest Bernd Banken Posted October 15, 2009 Share #43 Posted October 15, 2009 How would one identify models with the newer viewfinder? Thanks. -- John The silver/black outer carton has an orange print which states the modification. In the old forum there was a thread in which the serial no. for the M7 is Nr. 2 850 000 and higher. Doc Henry Posted October 15, 2009 Share #44 Posted October 15, 2009 Robert,I have seen this image a few times and every time it just gets better...excellent. I think the M7 is the best M ever made. andy "I think the M7 is the best M ever made" I'll second that! I have two of the older ones with no problems. Some day I will have the optical reader and improved viewfinder installed but as of this date, they both have performed flawlessly.-Dick I agree with both of you Henry
