The One Challenge 2006 - Paris

Ditto, good to see some old friends and meet some new ones. It was such a summery afternoon in Paris yesterday, so many times I wanted to stop and look at a shop, or listen to a busker, but had to crack on with the photographs. I wish I had stayed for the evening too. Good choice of bar for the meet - during the football they brought out oranges for everyone at half time!

The journey home on Eurostar was painless. Looking forward to seeing the results now, and then there is the small matter of next year's challenge!

Regards

James

Hello everyone,

Made it home safe and sound today. Thanks everyone for the nice company, the preparations, the little red buttons, the choice of lunch- and dinner-places and also for the excellent wheather. I thorougly enjoyed the day, and look forward to the next meeting (did someone mention brussels?). I look forward to the photographic results of the day!

Best regards,

Christoph

Hello All,

What a day !!,starting at 3:30 am and finally getting home at 9:30 pm on the day,but it was worth all the effort because it mean't I got to meet all my friends on the forum and some new faces to names on the forum.

The day was wonderful ,sunny and warm.Thankyou Steve for arranging the meet at 'The Frog and Rosbif Bar' the food and beer was just what i needed before venturing out into the Paris suburbs to start the challenge.

Now the hard task of actually looking to see if anything that i took really sums up the day of the Paris One challenge, good luck to all!

Cheers

Matthew.

Wow - that was hectic - but fun !!

Made it back at 15.30 Uk time this afternoon from the 14.30 flight from CDG - total journey time 2 hours !!

Thanks to Pascal for organising the meal and the welcome and thanks to Steve for all the hard work of setting the event up .

I've got the group photo on my camera, so when I work out which way is up I'll be sure to post it and anything else incriminating I can find !!

It was great to meet everyone and finally put names to faces, especially in a super city like Paris.

:)

Ps. In Cardiff for work tomorrow...it may not be quite the same experience...

Same here - it's a shock to be back!

And why is it that I took my best shots last night and this morning?! Watch out for "the ones that got away..."

Great to see everyone, and definitely a most convivial gathering. Here's to the next one!

Regards,

Bill

Ok, I've processed this one very quickly in Lightroom - here's a group photograph, as taken by The Famous Frog and Rosbif Waitress, with a borrowed Leica camera....:p

Is she a member of this forum?

Wow, that looks cool with so many Leica shooters about to go on mission.

If names are added, tools should be added too. It's interesting to see which choices he different people made.

Actually, the reason I asked her was because she said she'd done photography at college!

As to the use of tools, I agree, but I think we shouldn't do so until after the competition has closed; until then we must all remain "anonymous"...!

Regards,

Bill

Well I'm now back in the UK and back at work!

I think a good time was had by all - even if James discovered the 'delights' of the upper part of rue St Denis as he walked to the Frog from the station ;-)

I struggled to finish the number of exposures on Saturday, but went out for the day yesterday and took about 350 frames - 'go figure' as our US friends would say.

Here's to next year!

We left Paris GduN via Eurostar lunchtime today, and got back to Hull early evening. Thanks to Steve for organising a terrific get-together, and to Pascal for organising an excellent dinner. Wonderful to meet the people behind the names. Heaven only knows how the pictures will turn out, but it really doesn't matter - the occasion was the main thing.

Names to faces...

Apart from two, I have just thrown these names at faces at random.

How did I do?

:)

Friends all.

Saturday was very enjoyable from beginning to end. Great to see everyone. And it was very good to have longer to socialise, by including the dinner in the programme. Thanks to Steve and Pascal for organising everything.

Andy -- your names look just about right. (There are just a couple where I have slight doubts, but as I'm not totally sure myself maybe best to let the owners of the faces speak up. Well -- OK -- here goes -- is that Robert Stephens or Christoph Dobrusskin? Could Doudier be Boudier? And could that be Marylin not Ann Howarth?)

Thanks for the corrections, guys... I knew that I was "challenged" in the name remembering department ;)

I am sure you're right, of course. Sincere apologies to anyone whose name I have got wrong :o

OK! I've arrive back in Oz land, sort of safely.

Thanks to all the organizers and participants for making the event one that I enjoyed.

My film from the one challenge is processed and edited down to nine images.

Now the challenge to get it down to one! My sticking point at pesent is my scanner. It decided to die this morning. No choice but to order a new one immediately as I have work to get out. A Nikon Coolscan 5000 arrives tonight. Just what I needed afetr the travelling I have been doing. Still, what are bank Managers for if not manage my debts.:D

Need to have my 'jet lag ' nap before that scanner arrives.

Cheers,

Erl
