Advertisement Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Hi christoph_d, Take a look here The One Challenge 2006 - Paris. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ejd Posted October 4, 2006 Share #182 Posted October 4, 2006 I would like to join the marinated salmon/duck/ile flottante party, please. I love your picturesque translation ('english cream and eggs in snow'). Was it Edgar Allan Poe who said of Baudelaire, 'it loses something in the original'? Many thanks for all your hard work on this, Pascal.
JHAG Posted October 4, 2006 Share #183 Posted October 4, 2006 Well, I must withdraw. I will be in Paris for business and won't be able to shoot with you, seeing my former city with an outsider's eye…! Pity, because it was also an outstanding opportunity to put faces on words… Nice catches to all! P.S. May I suggest next year in Brussels ?
earleygallery Posted October 4, 2006 Share #184 Posted October 4, 2006 Yes, thanks for the maps/directions. I'm heading back on Eurostar at about 8pm so can't make the meal, but is the plan still to meet back at the pub after the shoot or are people heading off after lunch and meeting up again at the restaurant? I'm just trying to plan what I will do with my afternoon/evening after the shoot. Cheers
stunsworth Posted October 4, 2006 Author Share #185 Posted October 4, 2006 James Anyone who wanted to could meet up back at the pub after the shoot - that's what's happened in previous years and what I plan to do do this. Of course some people may want to leave straight away after the shoot, there's no compulsion about rejoining everyone else.
stunsworth Posted October 4, 2006 Author Share #186 Posted October 4, 2006 John, I always liked Kerouac's translation of 'rue des Francs Bourgeois' as 'street of the outspoken middle classes' :-)

ejd Posted October 4, 2006 Share #189 Posted October 4, 2006 Kerouac's translation of 'rue des Francs Bourgeois' as 'street of the outspoken middle classes' :-) Wonderful! Thanks for the maps, BTW. And the Paris pictures. They really whet the appetite for a few days there.. I spent a couple of weeks staying in a flat in the Rue Leopold Bellan, just off Rue Montorgueil -- very close to the Frog and Rosbif -- two years ago. Pairs is just so extrordinarily evocative -- I'm not sure what of -- apart from Paris, of course -- just evocative..... Am looking forward to meeting up with you all on Saturday. bill Posted October 5, 2006 Share #190 Posted October 5, 2006 Anyone else on the BA 07:20 out from LHR T4 to CDG on Saturday morning? Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted October 5, 2006 Author Share #191 Posted October 5, 2006 John I used to live on rue St Honore about 10 minutes walk away, so I have to confess I know the area reasonably well. My only concern now is that there is some European championship football later in the afternoon, so it's possible that the place will be very busy after the shoot. If that's the case then we can always arrange to meet somewhere else after the shoot. Something to decide on the day.
cbretteville Posted October 5, 2006 Share #192 Posted October 5, 2006 Way late I know, but the wife and I would both like Vedgetable terrine/duck/gateu - if there are nuts in the gateu one flotante in stead. - Carl
bill Posted October 5, 2006 Share #193 Posted October 5, 2006 My only concern now is that there is some European championship football later in the afternoon... God, I hate football! Still, it may lead to some photo opportunities... Regards, Bill
andybarton Posted October 5, 2006 Share #194 Posted October 5, 2006 My only concern now is that there is some European championship football later in the afternoon, so it's possible that the place will be very busy after the shoot. If that's the case then we can always arrange to meet somewhere else after the shoot. Something to decide on the day. Can I assume that this is the sort of place that might show The Former Yugoslavia Republic of Macedonia matches? If so, an alternative "tea time" venue might be a very good idea
pascal_meheut Posted October 5, 2006 Share #195 Posted October 5, 2006 If so, an alternative "tea time" venue might be a very good idea Should be no problem. What kind would you like?
stunsworth Posted October 5, 2006 Author Share #196 Posted October 5, 2006 Indeed it is Andy. I saw a reference to the game on the TV this morning. There are plenty of cafes in the area. I will select an alternative on Saturday morning and if necessary convey the information to everyone at 12. Just to reiterate, we will still meet at 12 at the Frog and Rosbif. earleygallery Posted October 5, 2006 Share #197 Posted October 5, 2006 Hmmm, I was actually thinking of catching some of the game if I could find a bar showing it! Didn't occur to me it would be on at the Frog. Perfect! Match kicks off 5pm (6pm in Paris) so we should be fine to meet back at the Frog after the shoot? Less chance of losing people that way too. Cheers
stunsworth Posted October 5, 2006 Author Share #198 Posted October 5, 2006 James, it may well be ok, but it could be busy. I think it's a case of having a post-shoot alternative prepared and then making the decision on the day.
